It is a very involved assembly process. The instructions say “35 minutes.” Set aside at least an hour. Seems to be a very good product.
This is the second one I've purchased in the last ten years. I Love it
It's a chore to put together but this thing is as solid as a rock. showed up quickly and was packaged well. instructions are great and it's a wonderful smoker
I love how you can set the temperature, and how conveniently theyvway the propane tank is station on the smoker, and finally the way you add what ever type of wood chips for flavoring your meat and food items, again a wonderfully MasterBuilt smoker.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After five years of faithful service, my Masterbuilt vertical propane smoker has more than earned its place as a cornerstone of my backyard cooking setup. It has consistently delivered delicious, smoke-infused results, whether I'm tackling a holiday turducken or a Thanksgiving turkey. One of the standout features of my model is the full viewing window. Being able to monitor the color of the meat without opening the door is a game-changer. It takes the guesswork out of knowing when to wrap, ensuring a perfect bark every time. This is especially crucial for large and complex cooks like a turducken, where maintaining a consistent temperature is key to success. Over the years, I've found the Masterbuilt to be incredibly reliable. The push-button ignition still fires up on the first try, and the temperature control remains impressively steady. The vertical design is another plus, providing ample cooking space without taking up a huge footprint on the patio. I do believe the wood chip tray should be a little bigger but other than that, If you're in the market for a propane smoker that delivers consistent results and is built to last, I highly recommend this Masterbuilt.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am writing to share my positive experience with the XL gas smoker I purchased in 2017. When I bought my house, I decided it was time to upgrade from my Masterbuilt 30” digital electrical smoker. I chose the XL gas smoker specifically because I wanted to transition to gas and really liked the glass door feature. After a simple assembly and the initial seasoning, I have since smoked all kinds of meat with it. I am very happy with how well the smoker maintains its temperature and the amount of smoke it produces. It has been a great addition to my cooking routine.
i would have given this five stars except the first day of using it the burn box door broke at the hinge with normal opening and closing. If it wasn't for that, I would love the smoker. I can still use it, but I just find that the weld was pretty weak to have broken that easily.
The top weld of the door broke before even using the smoker. Masterbuilt told me that the part is on back order leading me to believe that it is an issue that was not just with my purchase. The positive is though I have to wait for a replacement door, the company was prompt in responding.
The unit itself is a great design however Masterbuilt has been less than helpful in the following… my unit came dented and it was cosmetic only so decided I didn't want to package it all up and send back so reported the damage and asked for a discount and never got a response. Second my unit came without the water pan and Masterbuilt told me they could not send me a replacement because they were out of stock and sent me to a third party seller where I could purchase one. The third party seller is also out of stock, then only learn Masterbuilt isn't making the pan anymore. I have been on the hunt ever since to find a water pan that will fit because it is a very odd size. You can do better than this Masterbuilt!! There is no reason I should not be able to get a part that was missing or even purchase a replacement part for a brand new unit!!
I put it together and the bottom door hinge came off door. I filed the warranty work with master built and they said the part is bag logged. Master built ask me to return to Walmart but Walmart does not take returns on certain items and it seems this is one of them. So I'm stuck with a broken item.
