I love this GE drip coffee maker so much after my 1st purchase that I just purchased my 2nd of this same model. I like the bold setting for slower brewing that is needed when brewing cocao ground raw cocoa beans) with regular coffee to make my own iced mochas! Thus saving $$ and not having to frequent Starbucks! I highly recommend this drip maker model!

this is absolutely my favorite coffee pot, I got it from my dad for my birthday, and he and I used to share a cup when visiting. He passed away in Dec. I still use it and I got another one just in case. I don't want to ever NOT have one! Works perfect.

This my second GE Coffee Maker purchase. I recently purchased and reviewed the thermal version of this as well. This Drip Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe makes up to 12 cups of coffee. The machine displays “Brew” when it is actually brewing, which disappears when the coffee is ready. It makes a great-tasting pot of coffee. What i really like is that the machine keeps the coffee real hot, but does not burn it. I like my coffee piping hot, so that was a huge win for me. Like the thermal version, the clock light goes out when the burner turns off, which I wish didn't happen. But, the overall function of the machine is excellent. Another plus is the speed at which it makes a full pot - under 8 minutes! It cleans easily, and the reservoir is easy to fill. Highly recommended!

I love my new coffee maker! It keeps my coffee hot! The way it shines in my new kitchen is a bonus! I just love my coffee hot and this GE coffee makers does just that!

This coffee maker is very attractive and I'm happy with its appearance. Things that disappoint me are: 1) area to pour-over water is very small which is aggravating to have to clean up splashes. 2) The spring mechanism at the bottom of the brew basket has already come off. Doesn't appear that there is an easy way to reattach. Luckily it doesn't seem to be a problem or leak. 3) It's impossible to get all the water/coffee out of the carafe because the plastic rim overhangs the inside of the carafe. Carafe must be towel dried or expect some water to remain. 4) Instruction manual is very confusing/not well written. If I had it to do over again, I likely would purchase a more user friendly, less expensive coffee maker.

I'm pretty sure the person who designed this coffee maker doesn't actually ever make coffee. Piiss-poor documentation and website support. Want to know how the "bold" feature works? Too bad. It must be a proprietary secret cuz the manual won't tell you. I'm guessing it doesn't do anything. Oh, and "household descaler" (in double quotes)? Is that vinegar? Cleaning instructions are in two separate sections and they contradict each other.

Some design flaws make this coffee make a little difficult to use: Hinge placement of the top lid of the coffee maker makes filling it with water difficult. Top of the carafe has small tabs to twist on and lock, but they are difficult to see and not easy to locate or make contact. The carafe also has a wide opening for pouring, which when full, coffee comes out at an alarming rate, which can go everywhere. Overall, these design flaws make the coffee maker a disappointment to use. Will return to the store from which I bought it.

The water compartment is hard to fill without spilling water down the side of the coffee maker. Easy to use!

If you're looking for how to manage the "Cleaning" notification, here's the TL;DR from the poorly written manual: 1) Go to page 7 for the descaler ratios in step 1. Fill tank with your descaler solution. IGNORE steps 2 - 7 in the "Removing Mineral Deposits" section. 2) Place empty brew basket in coffee maker and empty carafe on the hot plate. 3) Go to page 5 or 6 (depending on your model), look for Function selection "C" for instructions on how to engage "clean" mode. Upon completion, the "Cleaning" notification will (should) be turned off. 4) Step 8 "Removing Mineral Deposits" section says to "Rinse by operating the appliance with water at least 3 times." Now for my review. This is the most poorly designed coffee maker I've ever encountered. The clock doesn't stay on permanently. (Saving energy, I guess?) You need to push the brew button TWICE to get it to start brewing?!?!? What does the "Bold" button actually do? The owner's manual says it will brew "strong" coffee. Is there sorcery involved? Speaking of the owner's manual: Front cover, table of contents: "Care and Cleaning" on page 6? Actually, it's on page 7. No one proofread this. Well, no one with native English skills proofread this. Where did "the serving cup" come from? Love this one: "Make ensure funnel are assembled in place." Where did "funnel" come from? What's funny is that "brew basket" is mentioned in the previous step. The rest of the instructions in this section aren't much better. But it doesn't say how to get the "Cleaning" indicator to turn off. Hmmm. Search the manual some more... Ah, look, back up two pages, under "Using the coffee maker" / "Function selection", it tells you how to get into "Clean" mode and you will notice that it completely contradicts the instructions given in the "Care and Cleaning" section. The "function" instructions have no information on the de-scaling solution. The best thing I can say about this unit is that brewing temperature is consistently in the 190-195F degree range. But that's pretty standard nowadays, especially for a unit that costs as much as this one does.
