I use this extender with the Verizon Fios modem/router to help the WiFi signal reach beyond the brick walls in my apartment. The connection has only dropped once but unplugging and plugging back in had us connected to the internet again in a minute.
we bought this to put in our basement to help extend the Wi-Fi because we have an Xbox down there and downloading games without it was near impossible. My husband loves that you can plug in an ethernet cord and that's probably his favorite feature. so far no issues and works just as described.
Easy to set up, boosts Wi-Fi into dead-zone areas, and delivers fast, reliable speeds. The Ethernet port is a nice bonus for wired devices
Place this device within a 25 ft clear view of your router and you will get excellent results. Installation requires patience!
Description: So, first things first, the reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the setup process is a bit bumpy and confusing through the Nighthawk app. It keeps looking for a nighthawk product and the A1600 is not a Nighthawk product. While both are netgear they are both different and the app prioritizes Nighthawk products. But after a bit of button pushing and the help of my trusty sidekick, Hey Google, I managed to figure out where the process was going sideways. With that said, once I got it up and running it works fantastic. I have a guest house on the property probably 150 feet from my home. My guest need wifi access so I installed a range extender on my front porch and on the back porch of the guest house and the signal is nice and strong even after the 150 feet or so jump it's making. It plugs in one outlet leaving the upper outlet available for other items to plug in to the outlet. There are no exterior antennas to worry about pointing in the right direction. All and all for the price your getting this thing for your getting an exceptional deal. I would/will/do recommend this product to anyone with connection issues when trying to reach areas that are a good ways away from the router. Try it out for yourself then come back here and tell me how right I was. God bless and enjoy your extended wifi. Thanks NetGear.
I purchased two of these and found them particularly difficult to set up and maintain. I tried using them directly with my Xfinity router and that did not work well so I then bought a Netgear router and although they work there was not much improvement. The Synology units I had previously were much easier to configure and use with my Synology router.
This was to be a plug and play item. Created an appl that was not easy to understand how to connect. Never did get it to sync with my computer. Returning the extender.
Intermittently shuts down. Has difficulty meshing with same model/version devices. MESH is being generous.
I followed the instructions and got nothing. It would not connect with the internet service I was using in the house. It would light up but there was no connection. Once I saw it was not going to connect I gave up!
After 90 days this no longer works . They want you to pay $149 for a service for this to work. No where was this said when it was purchased
