Oklahoma Joe's Charcoal Barrel Grill

Easy to assemble (mostly). Overall it took me about 35 minutes from opening the box to having all the factory options tightened down. That's also including removal of the original intake damper plate and replacing it with the quick mount plate for the Hitch (for converting to an offset smoker). Took me another 30 minutes to install grommets for temp probes, and reverse engineer a way to use the flex rack system for the Highland Smoker. Got it seasoned and heated up to cook it's first dinner in well under 2 hours from box to table. But to be fair, this is NOT my first experience with Oklahoma Joe's smokers and grills. And there's a very good reason I keep using them. The Highland in the picture has been used at least 2 days a week for 4 years, the Hitch is at least 3 days a week for a year, and I don't see the Barrel getting any easy passes.

I bought this grill as an update to my cheap walmart kettle style grill. Believe me when I say this is beyond an upgrade. This grill has such fine manufacturing it even impressed my wife. The quality of metal, the air flow, the space, and so much more have exceeded my expectations. Ill start with the build/manufacturing quality. The metals used are thick and durable and came pre-seasoned, out and in. The assembly took me 35 minutes by myself with only a set of grips and a screwdriver. The Smoke/chimney stack works just how youd need to. There is also a insulated removable oil/coal tray at the that makes cleaning the ash and oils very easy. Next is the cook quality. This grill can honestly do whatever youd need to. I can do high heat sear, or low and slow smoking. For my daughters first birthday party, I was running late on food prep and got this grill to temp and cooking hot dogs in literally 40 minutes. I will add that the hotdogs were cooked to almost exploding without getting burnt! I was shocked. I cooked 24 hotdogs in roughly 7 minutes. It was crazy, we cooked chicken breast to a perfect temp without an internal thermometer. I am basically saying the heat control and space make cooking on this grill seem like a game. I highly recommend this grill for the any person wanting a high quality product that will not break your bank and deliver every time.

Solid grill with great heat control, but paint could be better This is a well-sized grill made with heavy-duty metal, It’s definitely on the heavier side. I really like the barrel-style design, it’s great for searing on the right and slow cooking and smoking on the left. I do miss having a warming rack. There’s no door for adding or rearranging charcoal, but honestly, the charcoal lasts much longer than in other grills I’ve used, so it hasn’t been a problem. Downside, I wish the paint job were better. After first use, I’ve noticed rust and peeling paint.

Received the grill and assembly instructions were very easy to follow. Assembled by myself in about 30 minutes. There were no missing parts/pieces. I then lit a fire in the grill to burn off the interior and season it. My initial thoughts- Pros: good buy for the money, easy assembly, grill seems to hold heat well. Cons: the grill could be a little taller, the lid and base of the smoke stack leak some smoke. This isn’t really a big deal for grilling however if you were to add the hitch attachment to make an offset smoker you would want to seal it up.

The price at Walmart is reasonable. Oklahoma Joe's is a decent brand, and I think the material is better than the other charcoal barrel grills in the same price range. I don't recommend buying this product from Walmart. I just received the package. The charcoal barrel grill was delivered on a wooden pallet in a destroyed box wrapped in black plastic. Several parts are missing. (I am not sure how to get those missing parts). On the other hand, It is too big and messy, so I can not take it to the store and return it to Walmart. I don't know what I should do now, and I am so frustrated.

Nice construction but the smoke stack not welded very well

Do I have to even give it one star?!!? After it arrived today, close to 2 weeks after I ordered it, FedEx delivered it. I was outside at the time and the Fedex guy was a little smug acting when I greeted him friendly. I found out why.. The box/packaging was absolutely mutilated during shipping. I thought about refuses the shipment but reluctantly accepted it ( instead of of telling the delivery guy to get out of my driveway and take the garbage with him... live and learn). The parts were just randomly laying in the box. I ended up having to assemble the grill to even see if all the parts were there. Surprisingly its only missing a wheel. There are some scuffs on the barrel and the barrel is warped a litte letting the grills grates slide around very freely. The worst thing is.. the box is so mutilated that i cant even pack it up to return it!! aside from the bad shipping.. Don't be fooled.. your buying a name and not quality. It doesnt even have cast iron grill grates.. has the same thing a $150 grill would have. I'm demanding Char-Broil to come to some sort of resolution to this....see the pics

How about the Oklahoma Joe's 16 inch barrel grill in April 20 to be exact I have cooked on it seven times this Saturday making the seventh and paint is already starting to peel. It is peeling on the top close to the stack the very bottom and on the inside of the stack contacted Oklahoma Joe's even sent pictures and they said they don't cover cosmetic damage. I believe they use cheaper products, especially the Thermo paint they notice they know other problem and created a new warranty on cosmetic damage so basically in a nutshell Oklahoma Joe's told me that I'm S O L.

There was no product/manufacturer box %26 the cardboard box it was delivered in was delivered so beat up %26 so many holes %26 tears in the box that I didn’t even open it for fear of missing parts!!! I will be making arrangements TODAY for this to be picked up %26 returned for a FULL refund ASAP!!!

Missing parts. Cannot use. Seller told me to take it back to Walmart. Walmart refused return and told me to contact the seller. I am stuck with a grill that I cannot use because no one will help me!
