Tension spring
Before mounting the tv, turn lever towards the - (counter clockwise) to lower it. That loosens the tension from the spring. It should go down effortlessly. There's no need to wrestle it down and turn it. Just keep turning it, takes a lot of turning but will go down without having to pushing it down. Also if u want to raise it up do the opposite. If ur tv is on just pull up the lever and turn it back. It acts like a ratchet.
