Orbit 1-Port Programmable Digital Outdoor Hose Faucet Timer, 8.75" H

Bought the Orbit Dial Electronic Hose Timer to water the garden while on vacation. We have an in-ground sprinkler, but the raised-bed garden does not get enough water if it doesn't rain. Used this with a garden hose to the raised-bed, and a soaker hose inside the raised bed. Worked like a charm. Came back home to a garden alive and thriving. The Orbit itself seems to be well made. It is sealed well (important so no water leakage; example: the battery box has 2 seals to keep moisture out). Turn knob is big and easy to turn (almost too easy), and LCD numbers are large and easy to see. Setup is pretty straight forward. And watering functions are many and varied (I used the "every 12 hour" function...watered "on the 7s"...7am and 7pm every day while I was gone). The only negative is that the connectors are plastic; the hardware "box" stores sells the same brand with metal fittings for about $5 more. But I'll only use this only a few times per year, and it'll be out of the elements when not in use, so it should be OK. If you're buying one for 100% outside use, consider buying one with metal connectors. Time will tell about longevity (an important quality), but I can't comment on that since I just bought it.

If you are going away on vacation this hose timer can be used to water your lawn or run soaker hoses in your garden. It did a great job for me. It's very easy to program. The price was reasonable and the quality was excellent. Remember not to let it freeze up. Bring it indoors for winter.

I used this timer to set up a watering system for an elderly friend. It goes to a soaker hose and we have it set to water every other day for 10 minutes. Works great, a 5 year old could set it up, its that easy. One thing, DONT,DONT,DONT, forget to get this disconnected and drained and put away in the basement BEFORE ANY danger of frost. By the time it's getting that cold, your beautiful annuals are history anyway, and your perennials don't need your help that late in the season. It is made of plastic and the inside valves/workings will crack if the temps get just to freezing. ( I know, I waited too long, so this is my second one...) I would recommend this timer, they don't make this model anymore(at this price), so get them while you can.

This is my third Orbit Timer, and I think they are the most intuitive and easy to use of any I have seen. Batteries in my first timer lasted 4 years before they needed replacement.

Easy to program and works great. Good price also. I have had timers that cost several times more and didn't work half as well. Will definitely buy it again.

Orbit LCD Single Port Digital Hose Faucet Timer is reliable and very easy to use. I have used several other brands and settled on this one. I recommend using a short rubber hose strain relief between the faucet and timer so that you will not put too much strain at angle to the timer hose connection when pulling the hose around at an angle to the faucet. I do not know how much pressure it takes to break the hose connection on the timer, however I know it is possible. The hose strain relief also makes it easier to see and use the simple controls. Walmart sells these already made up.

I bought this so I could go away and not worry about my garden. I had bought one on amazon to test to see if they worked , it works perfectly. The Walmart price was less than Amazon and it was very easy to order. I returned after 2 weeks away and the garden did very well (expect for more weeds) the product is as described and would recommend it to others

I purchased one water timer at my local WalMart. It failed to turn on with the timed position nor the manual turn-on. The local store didn't have but the one unit and I needed two. Associates suggested purchase two units on line. I ordered two units. Had to take delivery at a store across the river. They arrived the next day! No shipping cost, great! Installed and programmed both units and they both worked as advertised. They are easy to program - very intuitive. LCD is large enough for older people to see. Water timer is built strong enough to handle two "Y" valves on each unit. I had to remove the screens at the water input because the vacuum breaks attached to the faucets prevented them from screwing on properly. New hose washers solved the problem. WalMart took the defective unit back and gave me a refund.

I've only had the timer a few days. It works fine as far as it's timer function goes. What I don't like is that it reduces the water pressure going to my sprinkler, so the sprinkler covers a smaller area. It'd be better suited to control flow to a weeper or other watering system that doesn't require much water pressure.

I've had it for a month now and it comes on when it wants to, for as long as it wants to. I've changed the batteries, reset it and emailed Orbit... All to no avail. The worst part, I just threw away the receipt and box. I thought after a month, I'd be okay. Oh well, lesson learned.
