Corn needs to be eaten organic/non-GMO, as it is heavily pesticided with some of the most toxic chemicals. I can grind this if I need to make it finer, say for a pizza crust. Or porridge it. Or whip up a fast iron skillet of cornbread with soup, stew or beans and greens!
Quick shipping and reliable quality. Slightly more expensive than other options, but worth it for the organic ingredients. The coarse texture gives it a more traditional, hearty feel, especially for cornbread.
There is no replacement for taste texture or quality when it comes to this product. I use it weekly and I cook it in my black skillet. I can bake it ahead and put it in the freezer when I want to use it for a dressing as well, but I love it fresh out of the oven the most.
I have bought other items from this seller. The important thing here is that it is stone ground and retains all the parts of the corn. I bought it after noticing that the polenta I buy at my health store, while orgaic, is "degerminated." That was disappointing so I went looking for whole grain and this is it. The label reads "Organic Whole Grain Corn" and when I read the details it specifies that it does contain all the nutrients and parts of the grain!
First it is Non-GMO which is important. I make great cornbread and tortillas with it. It has a much better taste and texture than other cornmeal. I am pleased to see that Walmart offers corn products that are not bio-engineered and taste the best also.
I cooked t with rice and it tastes good. I was afraid it might be hard because it's coarse but it actually cooks and blends well with the rice.
This is a great deal, and wonderful product. Always trust foodtolive. Make polenta, grits and baked goods.
I really enjoyed the product. It helped me a lot, and it was very easy to use, and it was a good source of protein.
Haven't used this yet, but it is something that I specifically needed so I was glad to find this organic and coarse textured product.
This product is hardy! No matter how I use it for baking or a hot bowl of mush, I can count on a sweet flavor and substantial nutrition.
