Can I tell you how much easier this has made my life!!! Because of neuroropathy in my hands, chopping veggies, especially onions, is very difficult and painful. However, since buying and using this vegetable chopped, I can now chop all the veggies I want by just crunching down on the lid! So easy to clean up also! Definitely recommend!
This is the best quick manual chopper I have ever had. It's so good that when I accidentally misplaced the plastic piece that you remove to get the cut pieces out, I bought another one. Same brand, exact same model. Helpful note: I learned that when using it, you can control the size of the pieces somewhat by the thickness of what you want to slice. For example, using an onion, for thicker cubes, slice the onion into thicker rounds to place into the chopper. If you need thinner cubes for sautéing for a delicate sauce for instance, just slice your onion into thin rounds. I stays sharp, the old one I had for over 5 years and it was as sharp as the first day out of the box (before I lost the piece that makes it easy for cleaning - okay... truth is actually think I threw it out *doh*)! 2 thumbs up product! - Just my 2 cents :)
I was surprised how much i like this. I mostly use it for chopping apples for fruit salad and it performs beautifully for that task. It seems to just squish anything soft (not good for strawberries, I discovered) but still a great tool and really speeds up the process.
This OXO vegetable chopper is a fantastic tool for anyone who wants to speed up vegetable prep without sacrificing control or creating a mess. Whether you're making a quick stir-fry, prepping for a week's worth of meals, or just dicing onions for dinner, this makes the job faster and more pleasant. The easy-pour feature is especially useful and feels like a thoughtful design touch. I'd definitely recommend it to home cooks who want a reliable, manual chopping tool that's easy to clean and built to last.
This helped me chop peppers in rapid time for a relish that I can for my 100 year old mom. Normally I chopped them by hand but it is very laborsome. This was much easier to use for anyone with arthritis. My favorite chopper. I wish it chopped a little smaller is all that could improve it in anyway.
Purchased to replace my old one I'd had forever where the mesh gave out. The plastic cleaning guard is cool, but broke after one use ):
I used this a few times in the first 2 weeks of owning it. The last time I used it, the blades shifted and came off. I let OXO know and they immediately sent a replacement for free. So, just make sure you are aware that it isn't necessarily the sturdiest construction.
If you plan to chop softer foods like cucumbers, onions, peppers, celery and mushrooms this item will be great. But don't plan on using it for potatoes or carrots as the blades will bend and break, even if you cut the 1/4 inch slice in half before placing in the unit.
I have joint problems and was looking for something to help cut veggies for dinner. I was excited to receive this. It seems very simple and looked pretty decent. It did not cut stuff at all. It pretty much just mashed and juiced things. I would get a few pieces but it's not reliable or useful.
I purchased this item to chop raw carrots and potatoes. It did not work despite how thin I sliced them. I lightly steamed the veggies to soften them, and the rubber liner melted. This product may work for tomatoes and onions, but that's about it. I am sadly disappointed in the quality of this OXO product.
