OXO Softworks Stainless Steel Garlic Press, Black 0.5 lb

I needed a second garlic press for my camp kitchen. I've that the OXO brand is reliable, sturdy and presses garlic through the holes without the press distorting like other brands I've tried. OXO brand of utensils are thoughtfully designed and made to last almost a lifetime.

Oxo simply makes the best kitchen utensils (and stands behind them with a great warranty and customer service). I love the design of this for cleaning - it swings apart into three sections and is much easier than my older (cheaper) press.

Wish I had bought it sooner. Works so much better than my old, cheap, unbranded one did. Easy to clean too.

I like how this garlic press has the press attached. Easy to use and clean and impossible to lose the press part!

Although not easily handlesthis is stillgood quality. Cleaning is fairly easy if put to soak immediatly after use as I hand wash my dishes. .Recommend for strong hands. Price is reasonable.

I'd expect more from an OXO product. The handle is sturdy; so I know it's not going to break. But it's difficult to clean and takes up way too much room in dishwasher. The part of the press you put the garlic in doesn't come out, makes it very difficult to clean. It only partially hinges out, so you have to dangle it across an entire row of the top shelf of the top rack of the dishwasher, and even then, the water still doesn't hit inside the whole thing. The rubber grip isn't as nice as other OXO products I've come to live over the years. I'm just not impressed at all.

Fundamentally this works…but it's awkward to use. The hinged basket for the clove of garlic is weird. It is not big enough for more than one clove. And it doesn't have a means to clean out the basket aside from picking out the smashed garlic remains with the tip of a knife.

It's a weird, 3-piece design which is not particularly conducive for use, but exponentially more so disastrously when attempting to clean after struggling through the use of it. Going to try to return it today.
