Pennington Smart Seed, Dense Shade Grass Mix, for Partial to Full Shade yard, Fescue Grass Seed for Lawn, 7.0 lb New Bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This smart shade dense seed is wonderful for getting grass that doesn’t get much light grow. We have a side of our house by the garage that we just couldn’t get to grow because of it being in the shade and this helped amazingly. The color came in a beautiful green. We are still waiting for it to come in more thick, hopefully in time. The grass coming I. Seems to be pretty durable and rooted well. Highly recommend if you need grass in a shaded area.

We had several bare spots on our North Alabama lawn that is almost full shade with dozens of trees %26 this grass seed was the perfect solution! We bought three 7lb bags %26 used a hand spreader to spread it. We watered it daily for 10-15 min for the first 2 weeks, then twice weekly for weeks 3 %26 4. In just 1 month (May 26-June 26) the grass has started to fill in nicely!

I live in central Florida and have areas of full sun and full shade. This was for the full shade area but we have horrible heat so I was worried it wouldn't survive. It is amazing and filled in all the dead spots in my yard under my grandfather oaks. I have been making sure I water regularly as we have had a dry spell. It is thick and wonderful and super green. I ended up buying a second bag to do other areas as it was so successful.

JUST AN ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL PRODUCT BY PENNINGTON. Sprouts within 3-5 when keeping seeds wet, plant in shade and only water in the mornings. Weather, rain, moisture, shady areas has much to do with growth. See labels, Read directions closely. Good Product. Pennington sells and packages most of Walmart's grass seed Products. :)

This is the second time we have ordered this grass seed. The first spreading of the seed was last fall and we are already seeing new grass. Hopefully, this summer will give us greater results.

It kind of rotates around the yard throughout the year, so now I can plant this seed in the places that matter most (front yard). This product is super easy to use. Mow, remove debris, and throw some seeds down (for over seeding). The shaded areas are just a little sparse and I'm REALLY excited to see the results! I also like how it looks like kind of like grass - not some unnatural bright color. Also, they have a satisfaction guarantee which is so nice! And they claim their seeds are drought-tolerant, so you don't need as much water. That's really neat! Although we aren't in an area where a drought is an issue (this year), it's relieving to know you don't have to be totally dependent on water… (ie.. the inevitable forgetting to water the seeds some days😅). Love how confident this company is in their product - makes me more hopeful I will see awesome results! (Will come back with results if I see grass!)

Ordered the Dense Shade Smart Seed for an oak tree shaded area in my front yard. Prepped the soil, planted the seeds and watered in good. Came up with 7-10 days and looking good and will probably plant more in the area to thicken the grass density.

took awhile to take hold..3 weeks but due to heavy rainfall n my lack of watering every day, it's coming up now about 3-4 inches but sown same day n grass grows not together. Had yard dug up d/ t new sewer n water line so started from scratch.

he came in and looked good within 2 weeks let's see if it holds up in the dense shade since it's mostly tall fescue they must have had changed the seed cuz before it had fescue in it fine fescue creeping red etc

With daily watering and sun, even some fertilization eventually, approximately 15% of the seed seems to have sprouted. Also... in a previously weed free lawn the seeded area produced a plethora of one type of weed. Clearly came in the bag. Completely wasted my time and money.
