Was delivered sooner than expected!
works great! just what i was looking for.
Love this! Great product!
Smoker doesn't maintain temperature as described!
4+ so far. Spent about 90 minutes putting it together. Surprised everything fit so well. Seasoned according to instructions. Just finished using smoker for 75# assorted pounds of fish. 8 consecutive batches with no problems. Temp maintained through out each 5 hr cycle and wood lasted about 2 hours at 190. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was getting to know the smoker. By the end of the first load I had it figured out and am very pleased with the consistent outcome of the salmon, albacore, yellowtail and sable My only wish would be for smoke button turn off automatically. While on, the smoker gets to over 300 in 20 minutes or so! I only did this once (lol) I do not use the probe that comes with unit as I prefer to use my own tested and true thermometer. Other minor issue is drip pan doesn't cover entire bottom and some liquids roll down inside of legs. Either the acidity of the brines this could create trouble over time. Will review again after 6 months or so
Doesn't work well in cold weather. Element wires melted because the pan got very hot. Now water the chips before smoking. Manual suggested not to. The element wires should be SRML (high temp).
We couldn't do anything with this smoker. Opened the box and the whole top was smashed in. Tried going through customer service at Pit Boss and that was a joke. I was blamed for buying the smoker from Wal Mart instead of from Pit Boss' website. We ordered this because we had a previous Pit Boss but now with customer service like that, I will NEVER buy a product of theirs.
I got it to work exactly once, and not as advertised even then. Opened the box and got everything out of it. I was impressed at how well thought out the instructions were. That got me expecting nothing less than the best. Instructions are excellent, including the breaking in section: bring temperature to 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes to burn off any material and heat-treat the paint on the outside. It wouldn't budge above 220 and it took over an hour to get there. Called to register it, which was straightforward, and told the guy I spoke with about the temperature problem. No problem, he assured me--just keep it at 220 for an hour or so. Oooookay.... After fussing with the controls for a bit, I got the hang of what you're supposed to do--it's not exactly obvious from what's written--and tried it. Once--one time exactly--I got smoke. After than, none. So, it being brand new, I called Pit Boss. Spoke with Jennifer, who was friendly and tried to be helpful. Stayed with me as I cycled through everything. It wouldn't make smoke and it wouldn't get above 220. Her diagnosis was that it needed a new control board. OK. That got here about a week later. I immediately installed it and tried it. No joy--it wasn't going to get hotter than 220-230, and that's not enough to get smoke. Called again. This time talked with "Tobias." Who knew little and assured me that it's not actually intended to get very hot--250 maximum on a hot day. But no smoke? Well, you don't always get smoke. IN A SMOKER??? Why do you put into the instruction manual that you need to cycle it at 350? Crickets. I told him I wanted to return it. Well, that was between me and WalMArt, from whom I ordered it. So I went online and generated a return ticket. No box? Who keeps a box for a grill? No problem. Just bring ti a WalMArt and they'll handle it. Which they did. After a fashion. When I got it there, the lady had no idea what to do with it. She got help, who told her that it was a Market somethingorother so it would have to be returned to them. But they'd handle it. A couple weeks after I returned it, I finally saw the return credit. I'm a retired surgeon and my time is still valuable. I figure that I wasted maybe $3-4,000 worth of my time screwing around with this--about 10 x the cost of the device. I will NEVER again order something from Walmart that doesn't come directly from them. And I'll ask first. If WalMart intends to compete with amazon's online business, this is a very excellent way to kill it in the cradle. You have to QC what you're selling, and if it's poorly made and/or has lousy customer service, don't do business with them. The only reason I gave this one star is that zero stars isn't an option.
This Smoker xould not reach the 350° temperature advertised.
when i recieved my smoker the box was torn and damaged. i could not open it too see if there was any damage to smoker because it is a christmas gift. i am embarrassed to give it as a gift because of such damage to box during shipment.
