This Presto 11" Electric Skillet is what I have been looking for. I remember my mother owning an electric skillet just like this. I have used it and love the way you can turn the temp down to give way for you to do other things besides standing over a hot stove. I think I will order another one. Thanks for the great product.
It is small. I live alone and cook for one. So this is a good size for me if I want to cook a small meal. You can fit two good size pork chops in it with no problem. If you want to have a slightly larger meal then you will have a problem. Other than having a devil of a time getting three of the screws loose it was ease to put together.
I am so happy I chose this skillet. They did not have this at my local walmart but after reading the reviews I thought it would be worth the wait. I Ordered it online and picked up at my local store for free less than a week later. I have had it for a couple of weeks. The non stick surface is great and makes for very easy cleaning. The heating is uniform. It warms up quickly and also cools off quickly. I have made eggs, pancakes, fried chicken, and cooked pasta. I just ordered the baking rack. I cant wait to get it and bake some cookies!! If i had to say something negative I would say that the legs are slick and tend to slide around a bit when you're cooking, but Overall great product!!
I was leary based on reviews. But I am so pleased I went ahead and ordered this. It's big enough and small enough- for the two of us, or even if we have another couple. It is not the huge ugly thing our mothers/grandmothers had. It's sturdy, heats well, is not heavy. And I can bake a cake in it outdoors on hot days! I actually got it for the travel trailer. I took others' advice and got the Loctite. Not sure it was needed, but haven't had mine that long...So it's a slow/low cooker, high cooker, and can bake biscuits, breads and cakes...and the price was excellent. What's not to like?
This is a quality electric skillet at a great price. It's made of heavy-gauge aluminum so it heats evenly. It has an enamel finish on the outside and a nonstick cooking surface. One particular advantage is the high-domed lid that is hard to find. It's also a nice size -- you can easily fry 6 large hamburgers at once.
I have used this skillet for years & love the it - so easy to control the temp. Just wish Presto would make one that would last longer. After about 3 yrs the coating wears out & the food sticks so it's time for a new one. I never use a traditional frying pan so my skillet gets used often. This model has the old fashion dome metal lid & it would be nice to have a glass lid but it's not worth the extra cost (about $10). I like Presto over other brands & the 16" is perfect for all cooking!
I bought this electric skillet to use with my solar generator. The generator has to use appliances 1000 watts or under and this skillet is 1000 watts. It is smaller than my regular electric skillet but it worked great with the generator. You could grilled four sandwiches at one time, so if you don't need a really big electric skillet this is a fine product. It was a good deal for the price as well.
The non-stick coating is excellent. Truely easy to clean. The plastic high-rise top gives more room to cook and is not heavy like glass. It does not have a vent on the top that you can open and close. However, the lid has a small bumper on each corner that sits on the rim of the pan. This creates a small gap between the skillet and lid, letting the steam escape that way. The ll" size is large enough to handle say 4 chicken breasts, yet it is easy to handle. The temperature numbers on the dial are under plastic and are protected from wear. All in all it works well.
I purchased this electric skillet after reading the reviews of others and I am not disappointed. I also took the advice of another reviewer and purchased some lock-tite and put on the screws and plastic parts as I assembled this item and I'm glad I did because the legs would have definately been wobbly had I not done this.I am pleased with the outcome,a nice sturdy skillet and the lock-tite I purchased cost aprox $4 and will stand up to extreme heat. I highly recommend this product for anyone wanting a smaller size skillet.the only con with this skillet is it has no ventilation holes in the lid but other than that it is a keeper.
i was looking for a replacement for the Presto fry pan/skillet I've owned for decades now...but... The lid on this one is plastic. I dont recall thst being specified ...I assumed from the picture it would be cast and painted. The coating on it looks to be about 1/10 the height of a sheet of paper...I don't foresee this one lasting for a year, much less decades. Also, therd is no vent on the plaxtic lid. i am relatively sure the model I ordered was shown with a vent in the lid. All of which leaves me disappointed. That said, someone that might be buying one for the first time, without a model to compare it to, wont know any better and will likely be pleased with it..for about a year.... when the nonstick coating is flaking off.
