I was a little leary of a stove top pressure canner possibly not being able to pressurize enough to properly sterilize, but thus canner has blown my expectations clean out of the water. I have so far canned 11 jars of potatoes, 13 jarss of beans and now evoking on jam. Not a single jar hs not sealed. Great, budget friendly canner.
I placed the order and got my presto canner the next day. Its got a good smooth flat bottom, so its compatibility with heating elements isnt such a concern. Its obviously made well, it heats up fast and evenly, the pressure release on top works great, the rocker starts rocking quickly then its jusf about adjusting the oven setting. Overall, I am satisfied with this order.
excellent item. works perfect. it says not to use on propane stoves but that's because it voids the warranty I use mine on my Blackstone with a pressure regulator and it works perfectly and doesn't heat up my house you just have to be aware of where your flame is set and control the pressure and turn it down so it just slightly rocks then it works excellent
This is one of the most basic pressure canners on the market. It is a heavy duty pot and lid with a weight that goes over the vent that can easily be adjusted from 5 to 10 to 15 psi based what part you take off. Super easy to use. It holds an about 8 pint jars and 6-7 quart jars. I used it on a gas stove. It was so easy to use. Follow instructions only put 2 quarts of water in so it is not over filled. I always did a boiling water bath before, even more old school, but I had a batch of salsa that did not get treated properly and was spoiled. This worked to perfection. No electronics to go bad, no gauges to be calibrated annually, Just simple and very similar to what my Mom used back in the day.
Great for beginners. The lid can be a bit tricky at first - read the instructions or Google how to put it on. Definitely wash the entire canner before use and apply a bit of oil or shortening to the gasket. The canner is easy to wash.
at first I was really nervous to use a pressure canner and I'm so glad I took the leap. I have been able to successfully can so much meat and makes me so happy to be able to use this
As a Walmart employee and first time pressure canner user, this purchase was perfect. I've used it twice now and it is really easy to use. Follow the instructions and you will not have any issues.
extra large capacity pressure cooker. i purchased to use canning. 1xl pot is very heavy when filled with water and filled jars. check your cooking surface for size and weight. Cooker is a good quality canning pot and does the job.
Used for mycology work for sterilization, and it works fine if you don't want to spend twice the price for the 23qt with the gauge. For me though, I prefer the model with the gauge so that there is some indication of being at the proper pressure.
I have a problem with this Canner. I have waited many years to get one. Yes it was only $100 which to me is a pretty good bargain. But if I can't get the dang lid to go on the pot, how am I supposed to use it? I'm not an idiot and I know how to line things up. I have been water bathing things for years, but this just is not working. I'm going to call the company and see if they can give me any suggestions other than what came with it. And if I can't get that lid to go on, I might as well just send it back or throw it away. I hate when brand new items can't work.
