I like this pot a lot. Always had aluminum, but decided to go with stainless. Probably doesn't cook any faster, but like the looks. Love to use this pot for cooking beans, small roasts, etc. Helps reduce my gas bill and time in the kitchen.
I have purchase this model three time. One for a daughter, another for my home kitchen and a third for use in a travel trailer. The first one was purchased sometime in the 1990s and is still in excellent functioning order.
I love this thing. Presto after decades continues to make top notch products. No disappointments or regrets here. Had the aluminum version for decades and continues to work flawlessly but recently decided for a backup and upgraded to the stainless-steel model. These pressure cookers unlike the competitors are manufactured without overly engineered and complicated design such as that of the safety mechanisms. Read and follow the accompanying manufacturer's instructions and apply common sense is all required. My parents and I have been using Presto pressure cookers for over 30 years, same type of model and other than replacing the rubber seals which wear out with time and constant use have never experienced any negative issues.
The simpleness of this type of pressure cooker guarantees long life as opposed to those electronic push button versions. I had one which had failed on me after 2 years. I have both a 4 quart and 6 quart version of this and have no regrets. You have full control over the cooking process. Far easier to clean as all of it is fully immersible in dish water. I've chosen stainless steel because I am fearful of aluminum leaching into the food.
I used a pressure cooker like the one I had a long time ago. Have been buying ones with a computer. They last a while, then the computer messes up. So I bought the kind I used a few years back. The kind that don't have a computer. It was Presto pressure cooker. I fixed pinto beans with fried cornbread. The pintos were really good. Wife ate with me, and she seemed to like them, too. So, no more computers on my pressure cooker.
this size is ok for pressuring larger amount of things without doing it multiple times.
After reading all the great reviews about this product, I ordered a presto 4 qt pressure cooker online and it arrived promptly as described. The size is ideal for a family of 2 people and the product works great, however here's two things am disappointed about just after two uses.. 1. The inside of the cooker developed dark stains and have white spots on the surface. Poor quality stainless steel?? 2. The screws for the handles started rusting after two washes. Its sad that a brand like presto cannot afford quality metal screws. I am wondering what might happen to the screws after multiple wash.
The cooker worked fine for one month after purchase and then the rubber overpressure plug on the lid fell off, see picture. Now I have a cooker left with a big hole in its lid, pretty much useless. It seems to be made with flimsy rubber and it moves up when pressure builds up and comes down when pressure drops. When it goes up due to pressure, it is held in place by a small rubber lining. Just after couple uses in less than month, the rubber becomes loose and no longer works in containing the pressure. Seems such a bad idea using a rubber valve which moves up and down. All other cookers have a better safety valve which does not move. My previous 10 years old cooker safety valve has been fine without replacement and this things went off in less than a month, speaks to its quality. I would return this cooker if I could but the manufacturer website is down all the time and I cant even contact them. Speak about pathetic customer service. Save yourself the trouble and buy some other brand.
The first 3 times it worked very well but then all the steam escaped everywhere from the lid, it had no pressure.
Grew up with and owned pressure cookers before. This one "spits" water out the whole time it bobs, overcooking and mushing the food. Wish I returned it and got another one.
