This is the perfect pan for so many things. So far I have made grilled cheese, hamburgers, fried eggs, hash browns, with the bonus of adding extra iron to my food! It's not very big, which is great for my small family, and easier to handle. Cleans easily with hot water and a nylon scrubber when needed. No soap. Dry thoroughly before storing.
It's Lodge brand tried and true! I make small gordita tortillas so 3 will fit on my round griddle. Its perfect for small spaces and is preseasoned. All i did was give it a good rinse with plain warm water and towel dry it immediately to avoid rust. Apply a light coat of oil before first use and preheat. Slap a tortilla on the griddle and let it cook awhile before moving it or the wet masa will stick. When the oil on griddle merges with the oil in the masa it creates a slick surface then you can easily turn your tortilla. I have not used it for pancakes or anything else yet. I dont have a proper cast iron scraper so i used a heat resistant spatula to scape any residue that remained, then wiped it clean with a new dish cloth and some oil and the next batch came out perfect also. I love my Lodge griddle and highly recommend this product...it will last a life time. Just wipe water off of it immediately to avoid rust.
It was a challenge adjusting to using an electric stove top at my new apartment, but with this iron griddle, cooking and heating food is faster and convenient. The iron griddle heats up evenly and quick; clean up is easy and fast. I bought 2 griddles, one to cook/heat food and the second one to warm the tortillas.
I personally prefer iron over the non-stick pans for their durability. I have used a lot of non-stick pans previously replacing one brand after another as the coating peels, but this iron pan is really good. We use it to make dosa and sometimes toast the bread. it heats up pretty quickly and evenly. Just one thing I didn't like is that the handle is also made of iron and hetas up and makes it unable to hold. It's pre seasoned, but I do season it a little cooking oil on tissue after I wash it and before cooking to prevent rust. Overall, it's better than non-stick ones.
This is the perfect crêpe pan be sure to get a handle protector for for this pan you can get it at the manufactures website of Walmart doesn’t sell it. I bought this for crêpes but I use it for grilled pizza also and if you’ve never had a grilled pizza throw one on there and flip it it’s delicious large makes some really wonderful pieces and I am in love with cooking with Cast Iron, and if you’re intimidated or a little afraid just check out Cast Iron on YouTube I have a lot of functional pieces from loaf pans to cake pans to Bundt pans. It is so much easier to process the cake that’s been cooked in Cast Iron than it is to cook one in a nonstick aluminum cake pan which by the way never a good idea , carbonized stainless steel is the only way to go if you can’t do Cast Iron goes from stove top to oven with no problems as old cast-iron well buy it you won’t regret it oh, it’s good for the standard eggs fried grilled cheese sandwiches
Nice, very good for making Indian dosa and other items. This is by far the best tawa we have used for preparing crispy dosas. The heat retention and even distribution are excellent — it gives perfect browning and texture every time. It's also great for making chapati, paratha, omelette, and other South Indian dishes like uthappam and cheela. The cast iron quality feels strong and durable, and once it's properly seasoned, the surface becomes naturally non-stick. We love that it adds authentic flavor and cooks evenly without burning. It's a bit heavy, but that's expected from real cast iron and worth it for the results. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves traditional Indian cooking — this cast iron dosa tawa is definitely a great addition to the kitchen!
I had been looking for one for quite a while. I am so happy to have found this online. The quality was a surprise. Don't hesitate one bit to buy this. It really is a great pan. It heats evenly and is not too heavy. I was surprised it came really seasoned and did not scorch anything on the first use. I did put it in a very hot oven with some seasoned chicken oil (grease) 3 different times and it did not smoke at all. Awesome pan!
Great low cost cast iron griddle. I did season it a couple of times out of precaution. It worked great for pancakes and eggs so far. A 10 inch griddle is perfect for cooking 3 eggs or pancakes. I can't wait to cook my own tortillas and other food on it.
lodge makes great products. I own and use many of them. The griddle is my go to pan most of the time. I own several and use them often. I seem to get more use out of it than I do the cast iron skillets... but love them all equally. You can never have enough cast iron.
This griddle is perfect for making grill cheese sandwiches, 3 at a time! We also use it to make cornbread fritters. Just add thin layer of fat, and pour small mounds of batter. Only takes a few minutes to yummy crispy deliciousness! Nothing better than cast iron for cornbread and biscuits!
