Ragu is my favorite spaghetti sauce %26 especially the Old World Meat Flavored Sauce %26 the other Ragu sauce is the Old World Traditional Sauce %26 both have near the same taste except if you're making spaghetti, you'll want the meaty flavor because you're already using a beef product %26 I use the Chuck Eye Steak cut %26 it can be simmered %26 it turns out very soft meat that basically melts in your mouth like chocolate %26 is really EZ too chew %26 is extremely flavorfull with every bite %26 the meat flavored variety gives a deeper flavor. This allows U to not use so much meat %26 still attain the flavor that's sought after by many chef's who knows how to cook w/a perfection of excellence ! LIFE IS SHORT, SO ENJOY WHAT U EAT ! Meanwhile the TRADITIONAL sauce variety gives U a zesty flavor of vegetables mixed in with the wide flat egg noodles or rotinie pasta with spinach %26 U can make a spinach keesh with loads of hot thick cheese that forms in like a blanket %26 portions can be cut %26 packed away for several months under refrigeration or even frozen ! Now U take those individual portions out of the freezer %26 put them on a stainless steel plate %26 put them in a BBQ smoker with red northern oak wood smoldering embers %26 let the keesh slowly thaw out %26 up to 225* degrees %26 man0mann U got one good flavorful dish in your belly ! Most women these days CAN'T COOK cause they don't know how too %26 most all men will eat anything when their hungry...it can be hog-slop %26 they'll eat it ! My wife lets me do all the cooking, bt she goes to the butcher %26 picks up the meats ! Walmart does not have the meat cuts we use %26 in fact their employees don't even know what a chuck eye steak is cause 9 times out of 10, they can't speak proper English ! So we buy the staple goods from them %26 go 2 the butcher when we need too !
I am a senior citizen and this is the same sauce that my mom used and I grew up with. I am extremely sensitive to oregano, and can't tolerate it; this sauce is not spicy at all . If Ragu is not available, I will go without. This is one thing that I will buy as a name brand only. Not salty, covers pasta and ground beef or sausage well and it does come in a chunky style if you prefer that type of sauce.
I like Ragu sauce much better than Prego. I feel like Ragu has more oof and taste and is not runny like Prego and some others. I like the added taste of the meat flavored as well it isnt too over powering over the sauce itsself. We use this for pizza sauce as well as spaghetti. Ragu is the only sauce I will eat that is traditional or original flavor and still hs a good taste unlike others that taste like watered down tomatoes.
I admit I use Ragu as a base for my spaghetti sauce and use my favorite spices, meat, wine and veggies to make it taste more like the sauce my grandmother and aunts used to make. I never liked using tomato purées as a base because they are too acidic and you have to wind up adding sugar
Tastes great, works amazing in many dishes. My go to for baked dishes like lasagna, ziti and pizza. A must have for home cooks who do not feel like (or have the time to) making their own marinara sauce. Highly recommend.
TASTE IS OKAY, HOWEVER IT TOUTS HAVING "MEAT", I AM GLAD I WAS NOT COUNTING ON IT HAVING MEAT, THAT WAS INVISIBLE IF ANY OR JUST "ESSENCE" OF ANY MEAT PRODUCT. SO DOCKED POINTS ON FINDING IT REALLY DOESN'T HAVE ALL IT SAYS, THE CONVENIENCE FACTOR IS ABOUT ALL ITS GOOD FOR,WHEN YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN FROM SCRATCH.
I planned large meals to last me as I have no job no income no nothing I sold part of my home business equipment not merchandise go buy food for me and my furbabies one key ingredient to each meal was out of stock leaving me to wait on refund to buy elsewhere eating with neighbors or not eating period call Walmart they say no refund even issued no items being delivered and that my bank needs drop pending charge to get refund cash app ok and then call cash app to hear them say Walmart hasn't released pending status or refund so call Walmart back still no refund to track and nothing they can do for another 10 days and it's already been 5 days so another 10 days so it takes seconds on technology to take my money and yet can't refund what is owed back to me so therefore ain't Walmart stealing from me !!!!! When and if I get this resolved I will NEVER shop there again and my entire family will also walk away from them
I've been getting pick-up orders for 2 years now and all have been great. But this item should not have been put in my order. The top of this Ragu sauce is severely bent. I thought it might have become bent by tipping over during the drive home. But if that was the case, I figured it would be easily reversed. However, when I tried to pop it back to normal, I exert all my strength and it still would go back! Not even close. It couldn't have happened on the drive. It must have been dropped or something. To make matters worse, in pulling so hard on it, I loosened the cap, so now I have to put it in the fridge and use it soon (which I didn't plan to do) or it will spoil.
Jar arrived damaged--dented so deep in afraid to try it, probably damaged by delivery person. If not, whoever picked it off the shelf shouldn't have.
