I was looking for a low fodmap substitute for the garlic and onion seasonings I use in every day cooking. This really fit the bill. The smell was not what I expected but the cooked flavor really is similar to the flavors you get from garlic and onion powders together. I don't always need the low fodmap option, but it is nice to have a jar on hand when I do!

I have a condition that doesnt allow me to eat garlic, so finding a similar tasting substitute is great. The taste takes a little while to adjust to. but now it tastes close enough to garlic to satisfy my garlic cravings. I wish it was a bit less expensive...at least it doesn't take much to do the trick.

I like try new dishes and one of them (PBS cooking show) used this herb. I wanted to give it a try and Wow, what a smell! It's pungent and I can even smell it through the cabinet where I store spices. This spice is extracted from the dried gum of the Ferula plant family and when you smell it, you are going, "whew", but when you cook it in dishes, the pungent smell goes away and leaves you with a leek-like flavor or similar onion taste in the dish.

I am using this as a replacement for onions. Being older, I don't think my stomach can handle onions. You can't just put this on top of your food. You need to cook it in some sort of oil and it comes out tasting like onion with none of the side effect. Fantastic.

Asafoetida is a great substitute for Onion and Garlic for me as I have become sulfite intolerant. It gives dishes the depth of flavor that I love so much. It is wrapped in extra plastic wrap to minimize odor escape and has a great top for shaking or spooning out the ground powder.

My stomach is sensitive to onion and garlic but I love the flavor. This products is a great substitute! No belly aches!

I got this because I have a sensitivity to garlic so I was looking to replace garlic with this spice in recipes. It wasnt horrible but it wasnt good. I ended up throwing it away because it was stinking up my pantry.
