Works great. Software included (download) for cloning HD to transfer system drive onto SSD. Great price. Quick delivery.
I bought this because my computer tech guy said it is the best out there he actually recommended the 870 EVO but that was not available. He walked me through the installation and then transferred all my files and documents over to this drive. The whole process was fairly painless The only problem I had was , this drive is so much smaller in size than my old hard drive that none of the screws lined up to attach it. Good ole duct tape did the job. Very satisfied, computer is much much faster than it was.
This drive is one of the faster SSD SATA drives and fairly new model manufactured less than a few months ago (June, 2021). I'm using it as an external backup in a USB 3.1 drive enclosure so it doesn't transfer as fast as it would inside a computer but with a Laptop, SATA wont fit so USB backup is my other option. I'm satisfied with it.
Replaced the hard drive in my 10 plus year old desktop with this SSD about 4 weeks ago. It is the most dramatic improvement I ever have made to a computer. Connected the SSD in place of the DVD/CD player. Used Samsung Migration software to clone the hard drive. Then swapped the SSD for the hard drive and reconnected the DVD/CD player. The computer booted up faster than it did when new. The desktop is over 10 years old and came with Windows Vista. With Windows 10 it was so slow. Now it boots faster than when it was new and everything opens in less than 9 seconds. I have a newer computer about 3 years old: but it is really slow compared the this old computer. It is running flawlessly and faster than I expected. I bought the 1 terabyte SSD on a markdown and installed it Myself. It would be worth 4 times full price for the performance improvement and solid performance. John S.
Since SSD has no moving parts, they make no noise. They only run 5 Volts so there is no heat build up and less power drawn. This small 2.5" drive replaced an old 3.5" 1TB Hitachi. The Hitachi HDD has been in there with a stamp May 2010. It has been very quiet and my data is secure on both this new Samsung and the old Hitachi is stored away in a drawer.
great read and write speed but the first one i bought wasn't so good so I ordered another one and much better 554 read speed and 511 write speed 1 TB SSD
This hard drive replaced a traditional 7200 rpm hard drive of the same size. The speed increase has been amazing. If you're on the fence- I'd recommend to just pull the trigger.
The discount was the same that I'm other websites but using the Capital one app I got more from the cash back and the sata ssd is good enough for a storage that will not be used a lot for read or write
The drive works well as a back-up drive for my laptop. But it would have been nice to know that I also needed to order a $15 cable to connect the drive to my computer's USB-3 port. That delayed its use by another week as I waited for the delivery of the cable.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung 870 QVO SATA III 2.5" SSD 1TB is an amazing SSD especially at it's price point. The installation was simple plug and play solution took me all of five minutes to install and format. The load times are lightning fast especially when comparing to my current HDD. At this price point there is not a better SSD on the market.
