Sauder Palladia 3-Shelf Bookcase, Vintage Oak Finish

Although these are a considerable amount of work to assemble, the instructions are very clear and concise. the finished product is beautiful, We couldn't be happier.

Paid a handyman to put them together. They look like quality furniture. I was pleasantly surprised. Will be using the open shelves for knickknacks and the closed shelves to hide odd and ends.

Great bookcase so far. I ordered 2 and one came in great condition. The other had two parts that was chipped and/or was crushed during packaging. I could of assembled the 2nd without issues, but I know Sauder has a great warranty and it was quick to reorder those parts online. Unfortunately we didn't notice both defects at the same time and are still waiting on the 2nd piece as I just ordered it. Regardless, I know that once the bookshelves are fully assembled they will be great. The first one was easy to put together with clear instructions and it took my husband and me about 1 hour to complete with one always working ahead. The color is magnificent and really enhances my ocean blue walls and black fish tank. I plan to add the matching desk to my bookshelves as soon as it is back in stock. I am also considering the lateral cabinet to complete my look. I brought my current desk, from Sauder, about 12 years ago and although it has seen better days it is still holding strong! Needless to say, Sauder provides quality products and excellent service.

The library will be used to display pictures and mementos on the open shelves and books in the lower section. Packaging was outstanding as all pieces arrived without damage. Directions were very good, especially with the packaging of the hardware in individual pouches. The following are two suggestions to improve steps 16 and 18: There are two shelves (H) and Moldings (Q) so make the statement plural. Also, I had to remove one of the angle brackets (5G) when installing the lower shelf (H) in step 18, maybe because I chose the middle hole for the metal support pins. Perhaps a note to remove and reinstall the pins on one side after the shelf has cleared the angle bracket.

I bought this because it matches a desk that I bought second-hand. Although it was a little confusing to put together, in the end it is a nice-looking unit. A couple of the pieces were not labelled which extended the time it took to put this together. I really like it as it is 'rich' looking and functions well.

I like the color/finish coordination with the desk and file cabinet. Needs to be at least 4" deeper for legal size paper like most other bookcases. Doors don't completely close due to this.

Bought a set of the book cases to place side by side in our home office. They look great but there was some damage (including a dent) from shipping issues. It took about 3.5 hours to put together both book cases. My husband and I did it together but it could be done alone. MOST of the pieces are labeled but several were not so that sort of slows down the assembly process.

I suppose for the price, I should have suspected this, but the materials are cheaper than expected and some parts didn't fit quite right.

I have purchased Sauder products before. I have office furniture I have had for at least 10 years, and it still looks great. These new bookcases are a different story. They are definitely more weathered than vintage. They are very poor quality. They are advertised as a library bookcase, but you cant put books on the shelves. They are too thin. I suppose they would be ok if you had 1 or 2 paperbacks and a picture frame. Even the fasteners are of a poorer quality than they used to be. I was really disappointed, especially given they cost over $300 each. I dont think I would consider buying from Sauder again. I will say the shipping was fast, but thats really the only good thing I can say.
