I used this spray before I went into the woods looking for berries. I did not get one tick on me and that has never happened before. I would recommend it to anyone who goes in the woods or hiking etc. to use this product.
this is the best tick and insect repellent out there. I am a bug magnet and this repellent helps greatly.
I hate wearing poison on my skin this is a good alternative. Works great I know I live in a heavily wooded area.
I sprayed this on my pants cuffs and socks when I knew I was going into an area where there would be ticks, and I didn't get any at all. Ordinarily, working in that same area, I always get ticks. I have used this several times since then with the same effect. I'm very happy with the results.
One can will take care of approximately two outfits, each consisting of a shirt, pants and socks. It was surprisingly pleasant to use. However, take care to apply it outdoors, in a non-windy spot. The garments will dry in several hours in typical fall conditions in northern Florida. My only complaint was a sore index finger --not the fault of the product. I had to treat clothes for several people for a trip to India, and it took 8 cans altogether. Also good for spraying on hats, & gear. The product doesn't stain or cause any apparent changes.
We treated our clothing with this as did other members of our travelling group, because we were concerned about getting Chikungunya when going to the Caribbean this year. I and my daughter didn't get a single bite but other members of my party did despite using Deet products as well. I definitely would recommend this over Eucalyptus products as the smell of those was awful and overpowering and I definitely would use that outside only. My daughter and I also took a Super B Complex vitamin for 2 weeks before our trip and during it, as we read Thiamine in the blood, for some reason, can repel mosquitoes. The people in our group who didn't take the thiamine got bitten, so I don't know if it was due to that or if they are just tastier! The permethrin was easy to use though and didn't hurt my clothing. The store didn't have it so I had to have it delivered to the store at no charge. That worked well, but you need to allow time for that.
I used this to spray around in the storage that had old stored clothing and shoes, and it seems to have gotten rid of the dust mites and all, that was breaking me out. I had taken a few of the boxes of clothing into the living room to take the items out and sort thru them and was getting bites there as well, so I sprayed everything down.. even the carpet.. and it seems to have controlled it. I will certainly keep this product around ! There is a slight smell that leaves very quickly.
I got this because I was going camping next to the river and I would be fishing, hunting and exploring in thick underbrush. I was there two days and I had not one tick. One thing though, I don't know if it was the heat and humidity or a reaction to the permethrins, but I thought I might have had a reaction to it. All in all, the product worked as said. No ticks.
The permethrin is working fine and I haven't had any serious problems with ticks and chiggers even though I have been removing old fence and cleaning up brush and such after a bulldozer. It is only May and not the worst of the pest season but so far so good..
FIRSTLY. READ AND UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE USING. Apply only to your clothing and avoid contact directly onto your skin. You will not need much for it to be effective. While it is DEET free, the long term effects of PERMETHRIN are not too well documented. SECONDLY, it is a darn good product. We live very near Lyme CT, where Lyme Diseaase got its name. Deer and other critters roam our yard and fields. Ticks are common. It's better to repell them than have to go through treatment of the disease. So far, I've had good luck. BTY be sure to wear a treated hat and also "blouse" your pants too.
