Scotts Whirl Hand-Powered Spreader for Grass Seed, Fertilizer, Salt and Ice Melt

No assembly required. We spread fertilizer over the sod today in hopes of the rain we're hoping for. The spreader isn't large but it works great and easy to fill each time. It didn't take long to spread the whole yard. The spreader didn't clog or have any issue.

In an attempt to save money I started doing my own lawn care. I purchased this spreader because it doesn't require assembly, its use is straightforward, and it's cost effective. The instructions for use are clear, and I was able to spread fertilizer on my lawn quickly and easily.

I used my spreader as soon as it arrived. I recently had grading done in my backyard and the seed the company use was taking too long to start growing so, I ordered Pennington from Walmart and started spreading it as soon as I could. Thank you. Good product and I love the idea to use it with salt during the winter months.

We have been fans of Scott's products for many years--particularly the quality. We have entered colder days here in Colorado, so we have not the opportunity to use the spreader. We already see many things we appreciate--lightweight, quality construction, handy hand support during use, large container for fertilizer or seeds, adjustable spread volume, super price compared to other brands, and fast and dependable delivery. My wife enjoys spreading both seed and fertilizer on our lawn, and with age, has had problems with the push type spreader. This spreader is light enough to assist her in that area. Walmart has done an excellent job of offering a name brand quality product with a great price.

I needed something so I could reseed my lawn. This was so easy to use and you could adjust the amount and just being able to turn the handle to spread it was so easy.

You can fill dispenser less often because it holds more fertilizer, grass seed, salt, etc. Also the arm brace that supports your lower arm is easier to use. There's less stress on your lower arm making it so much easier to use. Great new design!

I tried using this spreader to distribute some ant powder in my back yard. Even though I had the hopper fully open and I turned the handle at a consistent speed, the ant powder came out very sporadically. Sometimes a whole bunch of it would fly out in all directions, and then nothing would come out at all. I would not recommend this spreader. Note: The manufacturer offers a money-back guarantee, which they honored when I requested a refund. I do appreciate that.

This item may work for many fine applications. It is, however, absolutely worthless for spreading pelletized lime. The distribution mechanism is much too compact and jams almost immediately every time.

Downright stupid design. Yes it works very well. however that is of course if you don't mind poison, fertilizer, or whatever the contents may be, which are usually harmful to you spreading in your face. it's impossible to use without the dust or debris that you're shooting in the air getting blown in your face. when I was done spreading one round of triazicide my clothes arms and face was yellow.

Appeared to be great idea for Scotts weed and feed. When I called customer service for advice, I was told not recommended for weed and feed product, too close to respiratory system. Not approved by EPA. To be applied by ground feeder. Represen tative offered to mail $5 coupon to purchase one. Will be returning hand-held.
