Shimano TZ500 7-Speed 14-34t Freewheel

I ordered this freewheel to make hill climbing easier. I also changed the crankset and the rings have fewer teeth. I can CLIMB WALLS with the new setup. Thanks for the help Walmart.

I am 74 years old and recently purchased a 7 speed bicycle to ride in a nearby State Park with paved, hilly roads and trials. This is a casual bike with fenders and rear rack. Although, I have ridden bicycles all of my adult life I am not a long distance road cyclist. The hills gave me the most trouble and I wished that I had purchased a bike with more speeds although I didn't need more top end range. I came across the idea of replacing the rear cassette with the same number of gears but with the lowest or largest gear being much greater a ratio drop than on the original cassette. I needed to buy the correct Parkland tool to replace the original cassette but that was a $10 item and the cassette was easy to swap out. The cassette was less than $15 and now I can climb every hill in the State Park. My usual ride there is an hour long and I cover 10-12 miles each outing, I love the exercise and I am surprised at just how many seasoned cyclists are there in the park as well. So if you need a boost in the lower range of your bicycle give a Shimao Megarange cassette a try. Much less expensive than a new bicycle with more top range gears than you need.
