STANLEY 10-788W Instant-Change Retractable Knife

had one exactly like this one but it was stolen from my apartment while I was in the hospital several months ago. It is such a comfortable handle. Ergonomically correct. The brand name alone says it all.

Used this several times now. Easy to hold and use. The weight is perfect. Some reviews say they can't get the cardboard off, some say they can't change the blade. I had a moment of trouble with each of these but only a moment, it's not rocket science and it can be done.

I have 2 of these. One works great. The other binds up and has trouble retracting the blade. I have to push the point of the blade into a hard surface to get the blade to retract. This review page wil not let me type in a full title even though it says 48/50 maximum!!!! Plus it says my nickname is already taken up!!! It is mine!!! More IT problems....

I like the feel when holding this knife. However, the lever that retracts the blade is difficult to use. I had to take knive apart and lubricant to get it to work. Also replacement of blades is not a easy operation. I probably would not buy this item again.

There is no video that shows how to use this thing. Nothing I do opens it up or gets rid of the cardboard attachment that comes with it. I don't wanna destroy it cause I wanna take it back if it doesn't work right

Bought this for work. I have another companies version of the quick change utility knife for home but this store did not carry that companies products, so this was the closest thing that they had. Sorry that I compromised. The quick change button really doesn't work well on this knife. After fumbling for about 15 minutes trying to get the blade in, I took it apart. That is just as difficult but at least I could get the blade in. Using the button to get the blade out is okay but for some reason the blade will not go back in with the button. I would not buy this again and I would not recommend this either. I would with the other companies product.

Blade lock system fails to stay locked in place and too often the blade unlatches and pops completely out. When the blade comes out there is high risk of being cut by the blade. Unsafe to say the least. I do not recommend this knife nor do I recommend the Irwin version for the same reason. Both are unsafe and not durable. Now to see how good the lifetime warranty is.

I cannot open the blade storage, and I cannot get the slide button to advance far enough to get a blade into position....should NOT be this difficult to use. I am taking it back and buying a much cheaper, easier to use model. Looking for Stanley tool quality - definitely disappointed.
