There are other name brands out there, that are more expensive. I couldn't pass on this one, due to the price. I have to say that I am impressed and very pleased with my purchase. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I checked the accuracy by placing it in my oven. It is spot on! I've used it for 5 "low and slow" cooks on my Expert Grill 22 inch kettle. So far it's holding up.

Like armored cables on probe, first use a learning cure e do to multiple food selection. An online video would ease first use. I selected temp reading only. Will raise to 5 star if durability is lasting

Not intuitive at all for this century. I've never had to use a manual for any simple device and tbh I wouldn't want to lose it, if I were to keep this thing. The lack of a 5th button to control the timer (like in the other brands I'm replacing) makes for an incredibly steep learning curve, since you have to be in the right mode in order to use the (labeled) buttons. The toggle switches are on the back (for real) and makes it a pain having to flip it over and delicately slide it in the correct position. 2) The braided cables are sturdy but you can't put it in the dishwasher and they aren't easy to clean but super easy to get dirty. The probe handle is also textured so not easy to clean. The end of the probe is unsealed hole and def seems like a bacteria catcher. They are very stiff and def easy to pull the monitor on the floor while inserting the probe or moving it in/out of the oven if you're not careful. Other probes have a bend to keep the wire/handle out of the way... These are not and I didn't realize I wouldn't like that, considering you would especially want to keep this models handle out of the way if you insert it lengthwise. The probes aren't ideal. 3) I should have returned the moment I saw the default temp for pork is "well done," as no "pro" would overcook meat. Ya might as well save your money on this in that case lol. 4) The manual leaves much to be desired. I figured things out by trial and error, like learning the toggle is the mode selector... Hint, it doesn't actually say that and since it's backwards from what I'm used to, it made for an irritating initiation. The abbreviation printed on the device is also not listed in the manual. 5) The probe holder "thing" it came with is NOT for a pot. I'm not entirely sure what they included it for and an email to tech support requesting help left me with reply containing a copy of the manual... I still don't see how to use it. 6) The magnet is better than my other models! OVERALL: It's super well made and seems study enough to last. However, it's many-many flaws are quite disappointing. I would probably keep it if it weren't for the fact I truly think I will need to keep the manual and that's just insane to me. I'm also irritated about this worthless clip, since I specifically bought it thinking it was for a pot and tech support didn't help. I wish I could recommend this. Moreso, I wish Walmart would let me change my reviews to accurately describe it after a year (like I was able to do on Amazon) but they won't so this is my 1st and only review after using it to deep fry (using a home made probe clip for the pot) and slow cook using the Hi/Low setting. Restaurant manager here- using it at home. Good luck!

This is not edible. I wanted to use it for cocktails. Piece of paper in bag instructions says not edible. The return and credit for this is terrible. After three days although I was told it would take up to two days (48 hours). No refund. Very disappointed on this transaction.

The prong's where to long for me

Have owned this thermometer for two or three months now. Has only been used a few times. Always on a smoker so at low temps. Worked flawlessly those first few times but it's fried already. (Not dead battery) Happened in the middle of a cook on a prime rib. Very disappointing.
