This is a most excellent camera / floodlight. I used them to replace X10 sensor floodlights that are no longer available. Very happy with the quality and function and the ability to control everything from my cellphone. I have 5 units installed with more on the way.

The camera accuratelyl detects and records only human activity (what I have it set for) night and day. Doesn't record other unrelated activities that I'm not interested in. Records the entire duration of the activity with a rectangle highlighting the person. For my application, the installation was more challenging because the electrical box is in an inside corner... Less room to adjust the lights. The light arms are less adjustable than on other non camera floodlights that I've used. The light brightness is fine, but they aren't as bright as the regular floodlight that this replaces. The fixture is entirely made of plastic. This makes me wonder how well it will hold up over time. If someone was able to reach it, they could easily destroy it. The TP Link Tapo line of security cameras, overall, work quite well. This is my 5th installed Tapo camera. The app works well. The cameras are reliable so far. If you're trying to create a complete security camera package of cameras made by one manufacturer, TP Link is the most complete, well functioning set that I've been able to find so far. They're not perfect, but they reliably do the job.

It was easy to install. The video quality is excellent. However, it took a couple of days to fine tune . I had to adjust the settings because it was very sensitive and recording. Now, with the correct parameters, it works great.

I purchased the Tapo TC53 for my home security system, and while the camera functions as expected, the installation process and TP-Link's confusing product labeling have made this a frustrating experience. My biggest concern is the mounting base. It measures nearly 5 inches, which does not fit a standard U.S. 4-inch round junction box. Because there is no adapter included and TP-Link offers no official solution, the base does not seat flush against the electrical junction box. This creates a gap that makes the installation non-weatherproof and creates a potential electrical hazard. Third-party adapters are nearly impossible to locate, leaving the consumer to fend for themselves to make this safe for outdoor use. The physical build quality is disappointing. The entire camera is made of plastic, and the two camera-to-base anchor screws are extremely short and difficult to manipulate—a nightmare when you are trying to mount these to a soffit while on a ladder. Furthermore, the two screws for the microSD card cover are not secured to the cover itself. If you need to troubleshoot or access your SD card after installation, those tiny screws will easily fall out and disappear. Finally, the consumer experience regarding TP-Link's product lineup is poor. They have released three almost identical floodlight cameras (C720, TC55, and TC53) that look the same in person and online. There is no clear communication about the differences, leaving the consumer to do their own deep research to understand that the C720 and TC55 are identical, while the TC53 is essentially the same device but with a slightly lower resolution (2304 × 1296 vs. 2560 × 1440). Overall, while the video quality is fine, the poor mounting design and lack of support for standard electrical boxes make these difficult to recommend for a professional or a DIY home installation on a junction box or soffit. TP-Link needs to address these basic hardware compatibility issues immediately.

I purchased the camera approximately 3 weeks ago. The camera went off line and just blinks a red light. Have tried to reset it with negative results. I pulled the camera out unplugged for hours. Plug it back in red blinking light. The good thing is that it hasn't been 30 days. It's going back to azap. Done with Tapo/kasa.

the front camera after two weeks no longer has sound. also its more difficult to share video then my ring cameras.
