Tramontina Enameled Cast Iron 6.5 Quart Round Dutch Oven, Blue

This pot was exactly what I was hoping for. It was well-packaged and not impacted by shipping. My stew, started on the stovetop and finished in the oven, turned out amazingly well, and cleanup was a breeze! This pan is exceptionally heavy, and I do worry a bit about being able to use it when I'm old because of the weight. It seems to be quite well-crafted though, and I'm sure it will last.

I bought this as a dedicated bread making dutch oven. I did this because I read that putting the room temperature bread straight into a 450 degree dutch oven could cause it to crack. I've used this for 6 months now. I bake bread at least once a week. In addition to that, I've used it as a deep fryer too! It has held up beautifully and I feel like it doesn't perform very differently from my Le Crueset. Plus, I feel better about using and abusing it. It can handle anything you throw at it.

This pot is huge and heavy! I wanted a larger Dutch oven for making chili/bread for more than just a couple people and this is the perfect size. I actually had to move the rack down in my oven so the lid would touch the top heating element. It is very heavy though. 18lbs when it is empty, so that is something to consider if you have back problems or lift restrictions. Other than that it is great!

Love my new cast iron dutch oven,i wish could've order some more while they're on black friday sale,as good as it is i'm willing to pay for the full price but this item is out of stock(sad face)i am looking forward to get another color for it is now in my kitchen collection lists:)

Fantastic! Use and care: hand wash FYI ~ Although does not require seasoning because it has gorgeous enamel, season rim and cover rim with cooking oil where cast iron is exposed (recommended). Use silicone, wood, bamboo or nylon utensils for cooking- metal ones are too sharp will possibly damage cooking surface- and void warranty. Enamel surfaces are not suitable for dry cooking! Add liquid, butter or oil to bottom prior to cooking! ON ceramic or glass top stoves a gradual low to medium heat setting is best! Including frying and searing high heat is not best! And always lift to move not slide! Let COOL before you clean so no sudden temp change! You do not want to damage enamel - Clean with nylon or soft abrasive pads or brushes! Easy to clean! Hot soapy water - Oven use No microwave use No freezer use

My 1972 Belgium made Descoware pot finally wore out on the bottom. I bought a Martha Stewart for cheap but soon discovered the inside bottom had a bulge. When it finally chipped enough I bought this. Great price , great reviews. The inside bottom is flat and it cooks and cleans as expected. The cast iron is thicker than my old Belgium made pot And it’s thicker than Le Creuset. But it cooks just fine. Every cook must have an enameled cast iron Dutch oven Seriously, you need it for Longer-cooking things like stews, soups and roasts. They turn out beautifully either on the stove Or in the oven.

The Dutch Oven I received was, in general, in acceptable condition..The overall finish on it is not all that great...and there is a small chip in the finish on the lid ....but as far I can tell...the lid fits well..and based on some of the reviews I have read...I"m lucky!!!! Unfortunately, the '"red' color of the one I received is not a 'true' red...it is an orangery, and imo, not attractive shade of red that does not match, or/or blend well with any of the current shades of red of small appliances, linens, etc......so if a true 'red' color is, for whatever reason, important to you....then I would suggest that that you pass on this item unless, or until, you can see it in person at a local Walmart store.. Based on the "sloped' design of this dutch oven, it has less space at the base of it..which limits the size of roasts, etc, that you can fit into it...and have them cook them properly.... I'm glad that Walmart has a 90 day, satisfaction guaranteed, return policy since I'm really on the fence regarding whether or not to keep this product...

I really like the pot. The only thing is I bought it to make bread and it would have been better just cast iron no enamel coating. Plain cast iron can take up to 500 degrees and enamel cast iron is recommended at 400. I still use mine at 450 for bread.

I seasoned the rim as instructed. Later that day I baked bread in it at 400 degrees which is max temp indicated on the package insert. The bread was baked for 40 mins with the lid on and 15 mins off and the enamel had cracked near the handle when I took the bread out of the oven.

Bought this when I could not find the size I wanted from my usual brand. Idea was to use primarily as a dutch oven. No issues with how it looks, unit was very well packaged. Followed instructions for initial seasoning (edge of lid and pot are not enameled so require std cast iron seasoning). No issues there other than a darkening of the color. Major issue is that on my second use as I was preheating it in the oven (400F) I noticed that the enamel was flaking. This is an unacceptable flaw. While it is common for this type of cookware to chip if mistreated this should never happen with normal use and just by heating it. None of my Le Creusets have the tiniest chip. Understand that this is a completely different price point but this defect makes it worthless.
