What a great product - I would absolutely buy these again!
BLUF: if you want a pair of small, external, stereo speakers for your computer/tablet/phone, and you don't need them to be extremely loud or audiophile-quality, then this could be exactly what you're looking for!
PROS:
- Excellent VFM
- Inline volume control wheel (i.e. you can mute them without doing it on the output device)
- Only needs a regular 5V USB power supply to work (e.g. can plug into a USB socket on your computer, or powerbank, or just a regular USB power supply like we all have now for our phones, etc.)
- 3.5mm input jack so it works with anything with a standard 3.5mm output socket (computer, phone, tablet, iPod, etc.)
- Speakers can be clipped together to make a mini-soundbar that sits on your desk (although not much spacing between them, so don't expect a great stereo effect!)
- Speakers can be separated so you can hang/clip each one on a corner of your monitor
- On back of each speaker, there is a spring-loaded clip that allows you to place them on a corner of your monitor, in either orientation (top/bottom or left/right) as they're light enough and the spring is strong enough that they can even be clipped on upside down! (see photo)
- Spring-loaded clip on bottom opens to about 22 mm, so as long as your monitor edge isn't thicker than that, it should work
- Easily portable
CONS:
- Audio quality is not the greatest, a bit tinny sounding and starts to distort above about 65% volume, but (a) as they'll be sat right in front of you, they don't need to be that load, IMO, and (b) what do you expect for $12, small, plastic framed speaker enclosures!
- Can't be desk-standing as individual speakers, must be clipped to each other to sit on your desk
