Underwood Deviled Ham Spread, Shelf-Stable, 4.25 oz Can

This has been consistent for decades, old reliable, meant mostly for my family as the quintessential filling for deviled eggs. Deviled ham for deviled eggs, people. Those 1 star reviews that find it gross are not using it appropriately. Yes, it's salty, it has the consistency of cat food, but it is mainly meant as a filling, not as a cracker spread (unless of course you like that salty, fattiness as is). I don't think you can make those iconic deviled eggs without it. It will taste less salty and fatty once it's mixed with egg yolks, or mixed as a sandwich filling with chopped eggs, mayo and pickles. Or anything that mellows out the salt. I have mixed it into mashed potatoes to up their protein content, made for breakfast with poached eggs, added to bland soups and mixed with rice for stuffed peppers. It's always been a must for camping, up there with Spam. May be an acquired taste, but used properly, it has a place in every pantry. If you have an elderly or infirm person, it can be useful to increase protein when mixed into other soft foods, just make sure they can handle the salt. It's not something to eat daily.

many years ago my mother used this unusual ham its so good this way SPLIT a 1. english muffin and toast 2.spread generously with ham on each side 3.put a slice of tomato on top of ham 4.add shredded cheese or slice on top of tomato 5.broil til cheese melts i uused ( cheddar) OH ENJOY, now i have to make some !

the one and only true deviled ham , there are some imataters but Underwood is the creator of canned deviled ham , and like such things like Johnson %26 Johnson q-tips or Hefty trash bags or Kellogg's Rice Krispies , something's you just can't imitate.If you purchased this before than you already know but for new buyers out there don't get. don't get the imitations of of deviled ham. this is the only one and you will not regret it

It had been a long time, many years, since I had this product so I thought I would try it again. It made a delicious sandwich and brought back memories of my childhood when my mother drove us across country and we would stop and have these as sandwiches with some lettuce.

My family has enjoyed Underwood Deviled Ham for decades. In the late 1970s after English muffins first became available in California, we started making our own version of McMuffins with a Danish open-faced twist and practicality. Here's how you make them: First, split open 3 Great Value English muffins and toast them. Score and divide the round of deviled ham into sixths (the maximum for one can), and spread onto each of the toasted muffin halves. Then in a mixing bowl, add 10 to 12 eggs, a dollop of sour cream (or half-and-half or milk), salt and pepper. Beat well with an electric hand mixer or whisk. Next, thinly slice the tops of about 4 green onions, and beat them into the egg mixture with a spoon. Melt a generous amount of butter in a non-stick skillet, and scramble the eggs so that they are cooked through, but still tender and moist (not browned). Top the muffins evenly with the scrambled eggs, then cover the eggs with deli-sliced American cheese. For a seasonal decoration I cut Autumn leaves out of some extra American cheese with embossing cutters, and gave them color with ground paprika and sage. Now place the cheese topped McMuffins on a baking sheet and pop into an oven under the broiler, just long enough to melt the cheese.

Grew up on this in the 80's but was used as a delicacy when had guest over Parents would make finger snacks glad this is still around all these years later .

My father in law makes a delicious sandwich with this stuff. It's easy to store so here in Florida it's great as a hurricane supply. Easy to open can.

A childhood favorite. I hadn't had this in years and recently decided to give it another try. Still the taste I enjoyed as a child. I just wish it was available in a smaller size can. Yes, this is small, but it is still too much for one sandwich, and I don't like to eat this after it has been in the refrigerator.

I thought this would taste better, since it was always good in my memory. I have no idea what my dad did to this stuff to make it taste so good, but it wasn't just plopping it out of the can. It looks and smells like cat food.

I bought this when Walmart warned the people that beginning Sept 1 2026 canned good items were going to have significant price increases due to the tariffs as huge tariffs on the metal of the cans. 2 cans bought, both gross. The meat was liquidy and soft. I have eaten alot of this not just in the past couple of years. Big changes to the quality. Oh %26 of course it's over-priced.
