Greasing fishing reels is problematic, too thick you gum up the works, too light, the gears sling it off, making a mess, attracting dirt to slick everywhere. This seems to be a good compromise between the two, grease and oil for reel gears; to be clear, not for reel bearings, or reel bushings, which requires, and you should use, only a good light weight reel oil. Yes, grease is used in things like bicycle wheel hub bearings, but in reels you are throwing light weight loads, grease is too thick for any kind of performance in reel bearing. Bicycle hub bearings take more revolutions, higher stress, they need grease. With the size, price, you can do gear maintenance more often, as you like. Think of the size, price, its helps offset the price of good reel oil, this container should last a long time.
My husband has used. Valvoline oil for years. As a mechanic, he recommends it.
I use this in a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL AWD with 235,000+ miles on it and have used it in the transfer case and rear differential since it's first gear oil change from brand new. Still looks clean after 30,000 mile change intervals. Also use it currently in a 2008 Nissan Titan front axle, 1995 Nissan D21 pickup rear differential and farm equipment gearboxes, all at 30,000 mile or 2 year change intervals regardless. Moisture and corrision reduction and piece of mind. Exceptional gear oil that does what it's supposed to do. Lubrication, Protection and Longevity. Valvoline Synthetic gear oil is even better I'm sure. I just don't use Synthetic gear oil unless required by manufacturer. This conventional stuff is just as good!
I use this in the transmission on our Harley Davidson motorcycles. Works great.
This was an excellent product at a great price. I would recommend to anyone.
