Roadside flares have gotten so expensive and they are dangerous so I ordered three of these. They have 10 different LED lighting modes including a built in led flashlight. A magnet to stick on metal and a hook to improvise somewhere else. They are shatterproof, rainproof and can float. Run time on 3 AAA batteries is spotlight (6 hours), double blink (9 hours), double pulse (9 hours), single blink (38 hours), rotate (9 hours), SOS rescue morse code (15 hours), alternate (9 hours), solid on high (5 hours), solid on low (28 hours) and 2 LED flashlight (9 hours). They are extremely well put together. As a matter of fact, after you receive them, take to time to unpackage and open the unit to pull the plastic tab which prevents functionality until you do so. The back takes some prying on this first attempt so use a small screwdriver to push on the 2 tabs and it will open easier. Strongly recommend.
Needed flares to meet NY State requirements for boating safety. It's perfect and waterproof!!
Although I normally carry pyrotechnic flares for emergencies, I now have a new grandson, so I decided to go with something safer in the car for when he's with me. These electric, emergency, road beacons or "flares" from Wagan are great! Lightweight...strong...safe to transport...and very bright! The nylon carry bag is a nice touch too! One thing the instructions don't tell you: You have to open the battery compartment when you first get these to make them work. They have a plastic insulating strip inside the compartment keeping the batteries from discharging, so you will have fresh batteries from the start. It's easy to open..just remove the two screws...use a thin-bladed screwdriver to gently wedge under the "tabs"...and lift off the back cover. You'll see the white strip at the end of one of the batteries...pull it out...put the cover back on...replace the screws...and you're ready to go! I bought 3 sets of these (9 flares)...that's how much I liked them and am going to use them for other things than just emergencies!!!!!
Well Made. Better than I expected
This is such a great idea for safety if the car should be stuck by the side of the road. All the flashing and bright lights are visible from half a mile or more away. So glad I got it I gave one to my grandson and am ordering another for myself.
It feels well built and durable. It has very bright leds so you can see from a great distance.
Bought six to use as rear fog lights on each of our four cars (one is an Audi and has built-in rear fog lights) after a terrible pile up in the fog killed two people on our daily commute route. The batteries were Ray-max brand, and lasted a very short time , I replaced them with Duracells which lasted 3 months with no usage; I replaced them with lithium batteries in one light and they lasted 8 months. I know this because I wrote on the lights what batteries I put in them and the dates. Strangely one lasted virtually three years with the original raymax batteries but I opened it up recently and it's all corroded because the batteries leaked. So my advice is replace the batteries when you get the lights, because they've fixed the battery drainage issue, evidently. Best use which I found is when the kids and dogs are playing near the 30 mph Street and people fly by at 50, put a couple of these things down in the center of the road at night and people will come virtually to a complete stop to try to figure out what they are - it is really comical.
Excellent design, lighting options are multifaceted and broadly useful. Case is extremely well designed [very watertight], solid, easy to handle. Magnet is strong enough for almost any application. Included batteries die out quickly, be ready to replace within a short amount of time.
Lots of good options as to what light display you want, magnet is very strong, red lights could be brighter, but are visible a long way away. Really cool to put two together at the magnet and set each for the circle lights - really gets you seen.
Flashlight is great and the lights in distress worked like a charm. It came in handy the very next day I received it
