Had my eye on it before Christmas as a gift for my daughter but of course waited too long and it sold out! Was kicking myself until I received a notification it was back in stock - totally wasn't expecting that. Was literally selling out as I was selecting and buying it. Managed to get one of the last ones before it sold out again (price couldnt be beat, everyone jumped on it) daughter got it a little after the fact but they didn't mind and I was thrilled I got a second chance and pulled through. Super Dad status retained, thanks to that restock notice. Only place I found Ram at that price. With A/I eating up Ram world wide by next Christmas it'll probably be costing your life savings and your first born child so, yes, epic score. Thank you WalMart!

I am using this drive as an external drive connected to an old Raspberry Pi 1B running dietpi through a sata to USB adapter. I first connected the drive to my PC running Linux Mint with the sata to USB adapter. I used Gparted to format the drive to ext4. Windows users will probably format to NTFS or exfat? I am not really up to date on Windows, so you might want to double check the best format option for your setup. I know on Linux exfat4 makes a HUGE difference over something like FAT32. You will get like 4x faster write speeds! Anyway, I formatted the drive my PC then moved it to the old original Raspberry Pi 1B running DietPi. There were no issues. Everything is running fine. I now have a network storage drive connected to my router through a switch. Using the older Raspberry Pi probably slows everything down a lot with its 900Mhz processor, but I really am not that concerned with speed at the moment. If it becomes an issue I will upgrade to a newer Raspberry Pi. As far as the drive itself, it is quiet. Seems to be running cool and efficiently. I have always had good luck with Western Digital drives. The blue drives seem to be the introductory standard level drives. They make red, green and purple series drives from what I have seen. Some of those series drives get pretty expensive, but are intended for different uses. I saw one negative review on this drive about using it with security cameras. I think the purple series are for that purpose and cost 3 maybe 4 times more than this drive. This drive is for standard computer use. It is intended to be the primary or secondary drive in a computer, not a video surveillance system. That was his own user error, not this drives fault. I have used WD standard drives like this one in computers with high gaming, programming and 24/7 on time usage for years without any issues. If you are using this drive for a regular computer or what it is intended for, it should give you years of reliable service.

Great drive to add additional storage to your PC or NAS! Would not recommend trying to run an OS from it unless you're desperate and can't find an SSD. It will work great for storing extra data, pictures, or software. The 2TB size means you can store a lot of backups!

Needed to replace a drive in an UnRAID server. I've tried all brands but since the mid '90's, I only use WD mechanical drives. For SSDs, I only use Samsung or, believe it or not, PNY. Bummer that all memory and SSD/HDDs have gone up 60% since mid 2025. Dang AI chip mega factories.

I bought this to replace a dying primary drive for an older PC. It worked perfectly out of the box. Used the Western Digital cloning software and it went flawlessly.

In a time where computer components are getting expensive, it was nice to find a hard drive of decent capacity for an affordable price. With a reputable brand like Western Digital, this was a great deal.

this item came fast and at a great price and it has took everything I have put on it and has ran great on my PC I was having so many problems with my PC before I change hard drives and when I put this hard drive in I have in the head no problem thank you

Bought this hoping it would actually function properly, upon trying to integrate it into my PC, it refused to show up as a legitimate drive, continued to have issues over, and over, showing 0.0GB and slowing down my PC until I realized it's completely defective with O/I device errors, not worth purchasing, would recommend against it.

Thank you to the in-store clerk who said the inventory was wrong and they were all out, to the delivery driver who brought me a hard drive with the anti-theft lock still on it, and to Walmart who says my only option is to repackage and bring it to a FedEx Office for a return.

The original item listing %26 what I ordered was a 2.0TB 2.5” HDD (small form factor drive used in laptop PCs). What I received was a 2TB 3.5” HDD (standard form factor drive used in desktop PCs). Several other reviews (some as far back as mid 2025 %26 others more recent as of December 2025 %26 January 2026) noted the same problem: multiple customers ordered a 2.5” HDD %26 received a 3.5” HDD instead. It looks as if the item listing on Walmart.com has finally been stealthily ‘fixed' in the last 48-72 hours to properly now show this is a 3.5” HDD. Unfortunately, this 3.5” HDD will not fit my intended use case (camera security system node) so it will have to be returned at my inconvenience to the nearest Walmart for a refund. This is doubly frustrating because it is becoming difficult to find standard 2.5” HDD (not SSDs) in sizes larger than 1TB. It's clear WD has decided to jack up prices on most of their larger capacity drives to absurd levels %26 essentially give up on 2.5” HDDs altogether. Seagate needs to step up %26 bring more of these drives to market in the 1-5TB capacity range.
