This pencil sharpener is unbelievably good at its job. A few short turns and the pencil is extremely sharp (faster than an electric sharpener I might add). The pencils don't break after they are sharp and it's safe to use. I joke to my students that it's the best sharpener in the world and they always try to prove the electric one better. So far they haven't been able to :) 3 issues I would like to see fixed: 1. The container holding the shavings is kind of small. It needs to be emptied pretty frequently. 2. It is so hard to install, it's almost like they want you to not buy it. The holes for the screws are almost directly under the body of the sharpener so you need to screw in the screws at an angle. REALLY annoying when installing. 3. There are no options provided besides attaching it directly to the wall or desk. My school insisted that I don't do either so I had to screw it into a piece of wood to hold in place while I sharpen the pencils. It can't be that hard to invent a way for the sharpener to hold still without drilling into a wall... Suction cups? Built in clamp?

I am a teacher and after going through a lot of electric pencil sharpeners rather quickly I decided to buy this one. So far it is performing well - gives a nice sharp point on the pencils without much effort. My only criticism is that it was a little tricky for me to install. In order to get the screws to go in I had to remove the handle. Not very difficult but still you would think they could design it to make for an easier installation. All in all I'm very satisfied and think it will outlast the electric sharpeners.

works great!! I waste lots of money on pencil sharpeners, because i have kids. works good and batteries are not needed. also tried electric they dont pull and takes forever to get pencil sharpened. this one can sharpen dozens of pencils in just minutes!!! last for a very long time!!!

I had no idea that these pencil sharpeners were not the the norm anymore. Everyone is using a electrical one or those really cheap hand held ones at my sons school, and at home. I bought this as I was sick of all the broken pencils the handheld ones creates, and to be honest I have not been disappointed. This is just like the ones I would use in grade school over 30 years ago. I recommend this to anyone that wants a great pencil sharpener for around $10. The install was easy, I mounted the sharpener in my garage so the pencil shavings would not get in the house. I have a 9 and 6 years olds and both can use it with ease. Love it!

It holds up to daily classroom use, some kids have troubles turning it, but most kids have no trouble sharpening pencils. It really works well.

These are the BEST sharpeners!! They last a lifetime for a small family usage. So much better than buying cheap plastic ones.

Tried one of the battery operated ones, and it stopped giving me a point after six pencils. Stay with this proven hand held one with helical blades, not flimsy revolving rasor blades.

My wife had bought three different electric sharpeners, each of which did not last more than three months at the most. I ordered this one and it was ready for pickup in a day and a half. Sharpens great and feels very sturdy.

This pencil sharpener is a knock off to our original and works great just have to remember to hold onto the pencil firmly when using it to sharpen your pencil.

it just doesnt sharpen pencils easily. You have to constantly wiggle the pencil until it meets the grinder properly. A hand held sharpener works better.
