Well I like it very much! Your fruit does need to be firm. I found worked best holding base securely with left hand while cranking with right. It's quick and easy. I did a whole bag of apples in basically minutes. I recommended to friend and she ordered one too.

My 3 star rating comes from the vague and confusing instruction booklet that comes with the peeler. I had to figure out a lot of steps on my own even while attempting to follow the booklet, and that's what my pictures and review will show. First, the black grip is included in the box in a tiny Ziplock bag with a small Phillips head screw; you will need a Phillips screwdriver to "install" the grip (illustrations are shown in booklet but they're not very detailed). After you get the black grip attached the next thing you have to do is open the peeling blade to make room for whatever food you're trying to peel. The instruction booklet does NOT mention that at all! I had to consult some mechanically inclined family members for help figuring all this out but eventually they solved my problem and the first apple was successfully peeled! YAY! The small metal "arm" on the bottom allows the peeler to be suction-cupped to the counter and the grip is very sturdy. After you peel your food item and remove it from the "prongs" you'll need to take a wet rag or paper towel and detail clean the food remnants off, or rinse them off at the kitchen sink, but when you do be super careful around the blade because it's razor sharp! Luckily I didn't cut myself. All things considered, for $20, this was an easy risk to take, never having used this appliance before, and it's way safer than trying to peel my apple the old fashioned way, holding it in one hand with a sharp knife. Definitely not a good move for me to try! LOL! Now that I know how to use it I'll keep it on hand and maybe be inspired to eat more apples. With the hindsight of experience, I wish I had gotten an electric peeler first. Maybe it doesn't require so much guesswork right out of the box!

The first time I used my new peeler, corer, slicer, I was ecstatic with its performance. The apples were peeled clean, sliced evenly, and cored without much waste. I was going to make apple butter with the six lbs of apples I purchased now that I could peel them. I have arthritis in my thumbs and this type of activity is not worth the pain I endure doing it. Half way through the third to last apple, the apple stopped turning. I was cranking the handle, but the apple wasn't turning. The 3 pronged unit that screws on to the rod that turns when you crank the handle had become stripped. Less than 6 pounds of apples. I don't know why the 3-pronged unit wasn't more securely affixed to the rod to begin with. Perhaps welded, or seated on a square shaft with a screw, but not just screwed on. Anyway…I loved it until it broke. I'm going to use JB Weld on it, or something similar, and hope it holds. If it doesn't hold then I'll be looking for another peeler that does not have this fatal flaw. At this point it's just a paper-weight. If it won't turn the produce you're trying to peel, then it's useless!

I opened the box and took it out. I have used this type before. The parts were bent and did not fit together properly. That's what I get for buying the cheapest Apple cutter thing. Don't waist you time. Now I will find out if I can return it! Lol

garbage. so cheaply made. the blade for the spiraling doesn't stay in place. the peeler isn't held in place and comes off it's hinge placement(can see this in photo i added). bought this to replace the one we had for over 20 years. this one didn't even last 1 apple. do not waste your money

If I could give this product 0 stars I would. The 1st one I purchased the prong at the end snapped off in the first Apple I tried. The company sent me a replacement, I opened the box and the handle is completely snapped off and no where to be found. This is garbage and now I have no way of contacting the company to get my money back because Walmart will not take it back.

This cheap piece of crap completely fell apart the first time I tried to use it. I am fairly handy, but have been unable to put it back together. the woefully inadequate instructions were obviously written by a non English speaker and are completely useless.

I finally received my peeler only to find.that it has no handle to turn the peeler.
