This stud finder worked very well. I have a 1940's home and they used plaster over plaster board which makes it very hard to locate a stud but this stud finder found studs and electrical wires. Very fast shipping as well.

I have used stud finders from as simple as tapping a hammer on the wall and listening for the sound to the standard beeper kind. So to impress me with such a simple and basic tool, it would have to be something special. To call this a stud finder might be an insult! It not only finds the stud, it tells you the edge and the center of the stud as well. When you are at the precise center, it has a helpful light that lights up to make it super easy to mark. Placing a picture on the wall has never been easier. It also tells you when you are close to an electrical field like those made by wires within the wall. I have noticed that the AC indicator is not extremely precise; it just tells you when an electric current is close by. It does not recognize a wire that is "dead" at the moment. The only other time it reacts oddly is when it comes across a heating duct. But, this is easily recognized because it is much wider than a typical stud. A couple of pointers as to its function. Do not touch the wall that you are looking for a stud in with any part of your body. It causes the finder to give misleading information. Hold the finder flat against the wall and do not rock or jiggle it, but move it slowly and smoothly. To make sure that the finder is functioning properly, start at a different side from the stud you found, and see if you find it again in the same place.

The stud finder is easy to use. Came with a new nine volt battery, just remove the insulation strap and close the cover and it's ready. No tools are needed for opening the battery compartment. Just remember to let the finder calibrate on the wall for a couple of seconds before moving it. Then slid it parallel to the studs, hold the finder straight and move slowly with finder. The finder does have an AC detection system on it for wiring on voltages of 110-127 VAC. It will show you on the LCD screen that you are a the edges of the stud and when you get to the center of the stud. When you arrive at the center you get a audible alarm and a lit pointing indicator. Now, the accuracy will vary with the wall material and thickness of the wall. On freshly painted walls it may take up to a week for it to work correctly. If you have an issue with finding the stud, you can enter the finder into High sensitivity mode. It has proven pretty accurate for me, the AC sensor was a little off on one circuit from a old baseboard heater wire that is still in the wall. I pulled all the wire out of the breaker panel years ago. Always check twice before making a hole in your wall.

This product is AWESOME! It starts with how the 9v battery it needs is included (make sure to open the compartment and take out the clear tab). It is so easy to use! I like that it can detect wood or metal studs. It also has wire warning. The display is easy to read and shoots a beam of light and alarm sound. I have small hands and easily worked it with one hand. Definitely recommend !

This is my new favorite tool! It came ready to use with a 9 volt battery. I just painted the living room so I had to hang all my pictures and clock again. Normally I would tap and pray then patch. This ended all that and told me where the studs were. It was correct 100% of the time. It also tells you if your right/left or center of the stud. The best part it will also alert you to live wires! It has a lcd screen and beeps and lights up. Very easy to use! I'd give it 10 stars if I could...I really love this little tool!

I'd like to say this is good stud finder and it does the job, hope it could be better as I do struggled in finding some stud centers not better than the cheaper model

Needed to wall mount my new TV.. I was able to easily locate the wall studs behind the drywall. The light indicated the center of the stud. Good for the price.
