As a bachelor cooker I am saying aw shucks, wish I knew about this very convenient meat dish a long time ago. It has too much sugar in my opinion, but this is a very thick sauce you have to spoon out of the flip-top can. It could be thinned some with ketchup when using it for the traditional presentation on an open toasted hamburger bun(whole grain of course). I mostly eat Asian style meals now so when I noticed the sweetness of the single serving pouch I tried recently, I immediately thought of sweet and sour! A little 4 oz single serving cup of GV pineapple tidbits stirred into this can, with most of the juice included, makes a hearty satisfying sweet and sour pork topping for hot rice or ramen noodles. I'm so sold on this I just ordered four more cans. I have been wondering why we can't buy more canned cooked pork or canned ground meats and this product comes close to satisfying that demand for a reasonable price in a seasoned sauce. Heat and eat, as fast as opening a can of sardines! In my experience, this is not an excessively fatty product.
A little pricey but it's ssoooooo yum!🤤 On some ritz crackers, toasted %26 plain bread, or even by itself… good to keep around for a quick snack when ur in need for something you have to have right now.
Great Value makes it so easy for me to make pulled pork sandwiches in a short time. I like to brown my roll in a pan on the stovetop. I use a scant amount of butter to get the best brown on my bread or roll. I don't need to scoop up a lot of the sauce when making each one. A little goes a long way so don't make it too gooped up with butter and/or sauce. Really good tasting pork in BBQ sauce. I can whip up a sandwich quickly thanks to Walmart. Coleslaw along side of it is a perfect meal for me.
This is a surprisingly tasty and high quality product. The meat is tender, lean, and it comes in a very tasty BBQ sauce that is great over rice. Very reasonably priced, as well. The only problem I have is that Walmart doesn't seem to want to offer it for delivery very often. Once in a blue moon you'll find it available to ship.
This is for when I just want a couple of BBQ sandwiches for Hubs and me. I add some BBQ sauce I have on hand. It's a pretty decent meal without having to cook a whole pork roast.
This was much, much better tasting than the disappointing taste of the Great Value canned beef. It tastes slightly better than the refrigerated tub of Lloyd's Shredded Pork. It is almost as good as the Jack Daniel's pulled pork. I only wish that it cost a bit less.
Incredibly watered down pulled pork soup. I thought I might be able to get two meals (sandwiches) out of it but instead I only got one bowl of meaty soup out of it which didn't even fill me up. It was still decently tasty for what it was, but don't think you're getting anywhere near 12oz of meat or that you'll be able to make sandwiches or sloppy joes out of it because it's mostly water.
NOT FOR SANDWICHES! No way. Photo on can's label is NOT what was in can. 50 to 60% liquid, very small chards of meat, with one piece about the size of your thumb. Bought 2 cans and a pkg of buns, already for some BQ sandwiches only to find a product more fitting to be poured over a bed of rice. Disappointment is an understatement.
The only reason I think that this may actually be pork is there was one piece about 1 inch square that looked like meat, the rest was mush. The taste was awful, the dogs were not even impressed. Go to the frozen section if you want BBQ ready to eat.
OK, it tastes good, and it is inexpensive, BUT, it is NOT mostly meat as shown on the label. Each can has 5 pieces of tablespoon size meat, and the rest is liquid with a tiny amount of very small shredded meat. I bought 6 cans, all about the same. If you don't mind that, throw it in with some rice to soak up the liquid, and you got a good cheap meal.
