Great Value Chopped Macadamia Nuts are one of my favorite baking ingredients. They add the perfect buttery flavor and delicious crunch to my desserts. I especially love using them in the crust for my pumpkin crunch and my sweet potato haupia pie. Even though I live in Texas now, these recipes always remind me of home in Hawaii, and the macadamia nuts give them that authentic island flavor. They're fresh, high quality, and the chopped pieces are the perfect size, so they're ready to use right out of the bag. For the price and quality, they're an excellent value, and I always keep a bag in my pantry for my favorite island desserts.
Like the size of the bag and that they were chopped. Just the right amount for a batch of cookies.
This is the perfect topping for salads and vegetable stir fries. A small amount of these nuts is enough to add a delicious taste and texture to your dish.
I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (low thyroid) and Macadamia nuts are supposed to be beneficial so even though, yes, they are a little pricey, I look at it as medically necessary and so should you! Even if the doctor tells you that you are fine (like I was told for decades) it's possible your weight gain is as a result of low thyroid as well. Take a small handful each day and eat your way to better health!
as happens far too often with Walmart nuts, these are old. Not the first time I've gotten nuts: walnuts, pecans and now macadamia, not exactly rancid but tastes old. I am particularly upset because I made a whole batch of biscotti using these macadamia nuts (without tasting one prior). now I have nothing to return unless I want to take a pan of biscotti to the service desk.
This product was old. The oil in the nut tasted rancid. I don't know if this product was old or if it was something else. The oil of the nut tasted awful. I don’t know if it was Walmart’s fault or not, but the product should not have been on the shelf. I ended up throwing it away.
First, the package says chopped, but they are whole. Not thrilled to have to chop them up. Second, nuts are awful! They taste like they are very old despite expiration date not until 2023. I buy Walmart brand Deluxe Mixed Nuts frequently - it has Macadamia nuts in it. They are great, which was what convinced me to buy these nuts. Won’t be buying them again.
Used to buy these several years ago and they were fine, then one day every package I bought was rancid upon opening despite expiration being a year later. I stopped purchasing for a couple years and decided to come back and try again. Nope, they are still rancid. Walmart needs to investigate or stop production. How many bad reviews about the same thing is it going to take?
bought these nuts for holiday cookies, didnt realize they were rancid until 2 dozen cookies were ruined! I went back and checked the expiration date on the package, the date said best by 10/31/2024.. I bought two bags, both bags very rancid smelling and tasting!
The bag says chopped, but they are NOT chopped or in halves. They are whole nuts. What you see in the transparent oval is all you’re getting.Past that there are no nuts and the bag is only filled half or less. I know 4 is isn’t much but photo wise they make it seem like it’s a lot.The taste of the nuts aren’t that great.I’ve had many macadamia nuts from severe other brands, and they taste much better and much easier to bite.Even Safeway brand tastes better. This one is hard to bite sometimes.Go with another brand instead of wasting your money.Macadamias aren’t cheap, but if you want them, you get what you pay for.I like other great value products, but you should pass on this one
