My nine year old and I did this planetarium in about three hours. We enjoyed doing it immensely. It gave us time to talk and visit with each other about all kinds of things as well as space, science, and how things work together. This set is the most stress-free art set I think I have ever put together. Its directions are for the most part clear and simple. In several areas you can do slightly different things from the illustrations without problems because some of the items are interchangeable. The only issue we had involved the paint. You are supposed to mix portions of paint to get the color you desire. You must remember though that you need the base colors to mix and create still other colors. There is glow in the dark paint to place on the mostly finished set. Remember to put this on thickly because we didn't and the glow in the dark really does not work for us. Now that it is finished my son is very proud of it. It is still displayed in our living room and he still rearranges the location of various planets. One reminder which I had to emphasize with my own son, this is not a true to proportion or distance model! it is only a representation of the solar system.
I remember when I was child and I learned that the earth traveled around the sun and not the other way around. I am making sure that my own children know this fact -- with this set of our solar system. I sure wish I'd had this set when I was teaching, it would have been a big help. The set is basically a simple model of our solar system. The assembly is clear and straightforward. My kids just stacked up the stand, itself, then snapped the two halves of each planet together. They placed each planet on a spinning pole and then placed each pole on a rotating arm. There are instructions and a set of paints to color each planet and the Sun, too. I really like how each of the planets can be moved individually. Once they had it all set up, we talked about the facts included in the booklet about the solar system. It was fun for my kids to engage in making it themselves and also to see how the solar system works. It could even be a good project to make for a science fair or school or homeschool project and it is a fun and educational set.
The solar system is a fantastic, fun educational project. Kids learn and retain information of what they are doing is fun. I know my children have learned alot from building our solar system. We had hours of fun looking up additional information on the internet. My kids enjoyed creating this project amd ask if we could go amd.get more. It refreshing to watch our children take a break from the video games and have fun learning. The assembly was so easy. The base is sturdy, no wobbling. We have set ours up on our mantel and my kids talk about the color system often. They ask questions about the plants and stars. They will be ready for thier Earth Science class. This project made thier learning experience so much fun.
This solar system planetarium is a great educational activity. My son is very interested in learning about the solar system so I thought this was perfect for him. He had so much fun putting it together and painting it. The instructions were very easy to follow. I only had ti help him a little bit with the assembly. The plant peices snapped together and we were able to put it together pretty quickly. The set comes with a paint brush and set of paints. My sun had so much fun painting the planets. I love that it not only had a lot of fun with this kit but it was also educational and he learned more about the solar system. It's a great size and the planets can move around. My son loves it so much.
My kids love this solar system kit. They had fun painting all the different planets and the sun. They also enjoyed making the planets rotate around. The end product is a cute little model of the solar system. Overall, this is a nice kit but some of the planets are really small.
I received this product for my honest rating and review. I received 1 Kidz Labs 4m- Solar System Planetarium. The set includes a full set of of 3 dimensional solar system plastic plantets, a standard platform, rotating arms, paint, glow paint and a brush. I love this set and happy I need no glue to assemble. I am excited to watch my son create his master piece. I reccomend this for kids over 9 that love science, and give it a 4 out of 5.
This is a great little Solar System Planetarium kit, but just know that it's a little smaller than you might expect. It was easy to put together, it came with everything needed (including paint and brushes), and it was a lot of fun to teach my daughter as we were assembling. I did notice that the pieces didn't all fit perfectly, and the plastic was a bit flimsy, but I was careful to not force pieces to avoid breaking anything. I snapped the planets together and sanded them slightly with the sandpaper square to "rough them up" before painting, as suggested, and the paint held nicely. I'd also suggest to buyers to assemble the planets first, hang, and then do the painting so that your planets don't look like two separate halves stuck together. With the plastic being a bit flimsy, it's not a very sturdy, so be careful that this isn't played with like a toy after or display it in a safe place. I recommend this kit to anyone looking for a simple, fun activity to do that also provides some education wit hands-on experience!
I received the Solar System Planetarium for an unbiased review. This states 8 years plus, but I put it together with my 5 year old. This set includes planets, squeeze glow paint pen, rods, etc. The planets come separated in two round pieces and attached to a plastic piece with other planets. To remove the planet to paint you simply twist it off the plastic, remove it, and we sat them round side pointing up so they could sit flat. The paint comes in 5 colors, all connected in a small plastic piece. The containers are small, maybe the size of a penny's or dime's width. And about the same size tall. They are small, but there is plenty of paint to be able to paint each planet. The paint brush is small as well, similar to one that comes in a child's coloring/water painting book. There is a small directions booklet, but it wasn't much help. We used the front of the box to figure out what the planets were supposed to look like. The instructions were in black and white! This was my major complaint. It made it really hard to know what colors went with what planet. Also it was a little difficult to figure out which planet was which. Some of the planets are similar sizes, so I would use the directions to look at the specific details on the planets, but it was still a tad difficult. The paint didn't seem like the best quality, so if you want this to look really nice I would use other paint. If the directions were colored it would have made it so much easier and faster! This is a neat set though and we enjoyed painting and putting it together. It was neat to have a visual to teach my little man about our solar system.
This solar system planetarium comes with all the pieces you need to create a model of the solar system. It also comes with paints to paint the planets. The pieces are made of plastic and the set is lightweight. Be sure to follow the directions before putting the planets together since some of the names of the planets are on the packaging. Some planets are about the same size and it can take a few minutes to future out which is which if your not careful to read them before putting them together. My son was excited to get the set built but didn't have any interest in painting the planets. My younger daughter did the painting but she seemed less concerned about getting the planets the correct color. It's a nice little craft set to do with your children and talk to them about the planets and space. I gave this craft an average rating since the quality of the plastic is only OK. It is a bit flimsy and can tip over easily if bumped. The paint also did OK on the plastic. If a younger child is doing the painting, it's a bit messy and the final look lacks the true space look. But as for an educational craft to enjoy with your kids, I think it's a nice toy.
this set is easy to do. everything you need is here but to me its not that great. i would much rather just use the foam balls and make my own from scratch. while the planets are nicely molded on a tray putting them together and making them fit is hard. i was never able to get a plantet together without some gap. 2nd there really isnt good instructions on the steel dowls and wich ones need to go with which planet. overall its just ok. would not recommend.
