505 Southwestern Flame Roasted Hatch Valley Green Chile Peppers, Medium, 16 oz Jar – Hatch Green Chiles for Cooking

This stuff is the Jam. I add it to my two cans of Ro-Tel and brick of 32 oz Velveeta to make queso dip with a little more kick. It's not overly hot, but much better without it. Queso just seems wrong with no spice at all. I also find the Velveeta too thick with just adding 2 cans of Ro-Tel. If you want your next queso a little less thick and a little more spicy, give it a try.

I prefer fresh or frozen Hatch Green, and I take this stuff very seriously. There's no comparison between fresh to frozen, or frozen to jarred. BUT, if you're forced to resort to jarred Hatch at Walmart, then this is what you're looking for. I like Young Guns just a touch better, but they're regional... while 505 is everywhere. If you don't have access to a fresh chile roaster in your area, can't lay in a supply of Bueno frozen, and don't have Young Guns in your grocery isle... well, 505 is where you go. (Now that Adobe brand cups aren't on the Walmart menu any longer.) Still, great stuff. I order in bulk.

505 hatch green chili sauce is such a versatile ingredient that can be used for every meal. This is the fire roasted version and it's the one I have to throw elbows to get when it's in stock. If it's available act fast!! One thing to know, once you open it, use it within a couple days because it molds fast. I freeze the leftovers in ice cube trays but honestly sometimes I just dump it into a freezer bag and freeze it flat.

This stuff... oh! The jar is a great value compared to the little cans of green chilies. Taste is to die for. Good shelf life in the fridge for quite a while, though it tends to dry a little after a couple of weeks. Can use as little or as much as you want. Wish it came in a hot variety, as only mild to medium spicy.

Must be the HATCH Chilies... this is the best green chili I have ever had, Restaurants included. I've tried many others in the past but nothing compares and the spice is perfect. Love it , please keep it available at Walmart and local grocery stores. Thank you, Cindy

I use this when I can't get fresh and it's outstanding for green Chile cheese Burgers or I use it to make enchilada sauce which I combine with cream of mushroom soup to make a green sauce. I also put it in ground beef to make burritos with with the sauce or just with the Gren chiles and some diced potatoes.

I generally prefer (home) frozen chilis to canned ones because I don't like the vinegary taste of the canned ones. That said, these Hatch bottled chilis are pretty good; not a strong vinegary taste, fewer peels than other brands, and the medium heat ones are pretty good. These larger jars are more cost effective than the small cans, as well. These are great to make green chili sauce, add to chili or posole, as well as smear on a hamburger.

This green chile is wonderful! I am from New Mexico ( area code 505) and I am so excited to find authentic Hatch green chile at WalMart! You have got to try it!!
