These are smaller capers that you dig from the jar with a fork that drains off the brine. My main use for these is with catfish - bake it with capers or add capers to a stew made of catfish nuggets, cut okra and a can of diced tomatoes. Excellent alternative to gumbo when served on rice or with unseasoned ramen noodles.
Capers are like okra, you either love 'em or hate 'em. There is no gray zone. Nonetheless, I encourage you to give them another try. Put just a tiny amount into cream of potato, chicken, or onion soup and you might find that you have missed out on the wonderful flavor they can add to a dish---in small amounts!. I also toss a few into my Mediterranean stir fry: combine fresh carrots, tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini and fresh fish filet with Herb de Provence, feta or asiago cheese, and capers. Its delicious
Excellent if you eat a lot of smoked salmon. Make sure you have purple onion, caviar spread, cream cheese, and capers in the refrigerator. And if you ever see caper leaves out in the wild, grab a jar. Excellent for Mediterranean dishes.
I’m a big fan of capers in various dishes or for salad dressing. Walmart brand never disappoints. Stopped buying the name brand as the quality is the same at a fraction of the cost.
Great Value Nonpareil Capers are excellent quality. They have a really nice bite and taste and they are firm but not hard. They are an amazing accompaniment to a large variety of dishes, I especially enjoy these with veal or chicken plicata. They are also amazing in fresh seafood salads and octopus or calamari cold salads.
I use whole small jar for one recipe...great size option...love it
I love capers on everything from salads to lemon sauce on fish. The great value brand is a great value, indeed. I cannot tell a difference in the flavor or quality between them and the higher priced name brands.
I like the tiny little capers, and these are the larger ones. Wegman's has good capers, but they charge too much for home delivery. These capers do the trick and are a good price.
I opened the can and noticed a dark brown liquid coming out, which wasn't too strange, but then saw what looks like mold on the lid. it's ringing around the top and even left some marks on the bottle itself. I don't think this was canned or stored improperly and want a refund
I have gotten these before so I was disappointed with this purchase. They expire in 2028 but this jar was definitely bad. Bad enough by sight where I didn't even taste one to make sure. It looked like someone poured some of the juice out. When I opened the jar the ones at the top looked dry and discolored. I looked at the others inside the jar and they looked the same. I got a refund but I was disappointed because I bought these for a specific dish.
