AcuRite 01529M Wireless Weather Station with 5-in-1 Sensor is made of two parts. One is for indoors which is a monitor and second part is for outdoors which is the weather station sensor. They are wirelessly connected to each other. Both devices should be placed within 330 feet in order to connect and if you follow directions it should be very easy to synchronize devices with each other. The 7-and-a-half-inch monitor that controls the sensors feels richer that it is. It runs on an AC adapter that is provided but it also has slots for batteries in case of a power outage. Screen is split into several categories for easy reading and understanding such as indoor and outdoor temperature, wind direction, speed, etc. It is very important that monitor is at least 3 feet away from TV or any other electronics in order to prevent interference. AcuRite weather station sensor comes with all hardware needed for installation. It is a very simple installation but it is very important that weather sensor is not obstructed from any side. In other words it should be clear of anything 360 degrees horizontally and vertically. On top of the weather sensor there is a solar cell panel that charges the station. There is also a rainfall collector that measures rain precipitation. In addition, there is a wind speed anemometer which measures the speed of wind. Wind speed anemometer needs 360 degrees of clearance for proper measure. On the bottom of the weather station there is a wind direction vane which also needs 360-degree clearance so that it can determine the exact side the wind is blowing from. On top of everything else it is also good to install it at least 5 feet or more from the ground if possible. Overall I think it is a very nice and affordable “private weather station” that measures the weather at your location. We will see how durable it is when it starts snowing.
this is a must have item if you care about the weather it is so cool to know the exact temp and wind mph right at your house not some weather station 25 miles away your getting real deal temps and mph with this unit uses a real 5-1 metering system that you put up outside and it responds back to your screen . super cool
I was a premier member of WU for a while and always wanted to get a weather station to contribute to the weather forecasting community and finally I decided to get this AcuRite weather station. The outside mounting took me w while since I wanted to place far enough from the house to get accurate reading. I got a treated for outside 2x4 from the local hardware store and after a deep hole in the ground to secure it I was good to go, took about 10-15 to install the stand on the 2x4, the station needs 4AA batteries for power back up if solar charge is not enough, the solar power need to face south, I used the compass app form the phone to align the unit to point south, this is also necessary for the wind direction readings. After I had the weather station setup got inside the house and powered on the display unit (in need 3AAA batteries for backup) and after few minutes synced with the station and it started to get the data. It displays: outside/inside temp, dew point, outside/inside humidity, pressure, rain total for the week/year, wind speed and direction and forecast, it also displays date and time and moon phase. AcuRite Access hub connects to the router and gets the data to the MyAcuRite website, from here you can share the date to WU and have your station displaying data. So far very happy with my choice.
I had a similar weather station about 10 years ago and loved it. I also like this AcuRite 01209M Weather Station. My 1st one got blown away by a hurricane and I have missed it and was happy to get the chance to review this weather station. The shipping packaging was great. I would not hesitate to order this unit online and have it shipped to me. Unpacking was quick and easy and all parts and instructions were included. I plugged the AcuRite Access Hub into a network extender I already had near my back door. This allowed me to place the 5-in-1 Pro+ Weather Sensor model 06014 at the end of my 100' pier on top of the boathouse. (See picture.) This is approximately 360' from the Professional Weather Display model 06086. Following the included detailed instructions, it took me about 30 minutes to start seeing weather information on the AcuRite App and on the display unit. I did not do the Wi-Fi setup for Weather Underground because I did not want to send my weather data to the internet. The colorful display is a definite plus for this unit. It displays the outdoor weather, wind speed, dew point, humidity, pressure, rain totals, indoor temperature, humidity and date and time. It can be used as a clock/calendar. The only thing missing is the day of the week. (See picture) The display has 3 levels of brightness. Mounting the Weather Sensor outdoors took a little extra time because of where it was mounted. But it was still simple. In conclusion, this unit is definitely 5 stars - easy setup, clear, easy to understand weather information, no negatives.
Time to put the old style rain gage away. I just got mine set up so I am basing my review of my father-n-laws. This is like having the weatherman living in your house. It will tell you how much rain you got last night or last year. The set up is quite easy too. Find an open area in the yard and a pole to put it on and follow the instructions. We own some farm ground and this has been a blessing. Tells the temp, wind velocity and several other things. I have set my monitor right next to where I have coffee every morning. Great Product!
This is a breeze to install and set up. Everything came in one box and is marked as a set. Do read all the instructions prior to installing, you will need three AAA batteries and seven AA batteries. It does give some guidelines for batteries in the booklets. I used the bracket in the box and mounted it to the hand rail of my deck and set the display in the living room. Everything communicated easily, I do recommend that you check the switch position and make sure all components are on the same channel. I did check the rain calibration on ours, the procedure took around an hour and it was accurate from the factory. The display is easily read indoors and will automatically dim to 15% brightness around 9 p.m. I will set ours on a pole at a later date, but it has work flawlessly since I installed it on the hand rail. Online set up and registration was a breeze. The display also displays indoor temperature and humidity. Lots of programing options for alarms. My wife loves it, you can also view the information on your phone from their app. I did receive this product from the Spark Reviewer Program.
This is a 5-in-1 weather station from Acurite. It comes in the box and has two components: The weather station and the information screen. The weather station looks kind of like a small upside-down toy boat. It contains a solar cell, rain collector, thermometer, and wind turbines. It is the part you keep outside to measure the weather. It needs 4 AA batteries and the company recommends lithium batteries for colder climates. Being that we are in New York which has cold winters, I used lithium batteries. It comes with mounting screws and is meant to be mounted on a 2x4 or some other solid piece, 5 or more feet above the ground in a clear unobstructed (above) area. I dug a hole in my backyard and inserted a 2x4 and screwed the weather machine to the 2x4. The second component is the screen. The weather station communicates wirelessely to the screen and gives it information on the weather such as wind speed, wind direction, rain accumulation, actual temperature (indoor and outdoor), real feel temperature, humidity (indoor and outdoor), and more. I think it can also do weather predictions, but mine still says "learning" in that section so I am not sure. You can customize what shows on the screen by touching the buttons below the screen. Also the screen is powered by an AC adapter however, you can insert AA batteries if you so desire for backup power. I think this is a very good product and especially fun for weather enthusiasts or aspiring meteorologists. My one issue is the screen. I feel that in 2020 it is not too much of a stretch to offer a touch screen rather than having physical buttons. Also the weather station (the measuring outside component) is not particularly aesthetically pleasing and it is quite large so you may need to find an inconspicuous place to keep it outside but that can be challenging since it needs to be minimum 5 feet above the ground and have no obstructions above it. Still overall, I am very pleased with this weather station and it is fun to use.
In an age when it seems you can't trust the weather forecast anymore, these AcuRite weather stations are a useful tool to determine exactly what the weather is in your area. Recently, it seems like every time I check the forecast for my area, the predicted forecast doesn't even come close. As a motor cycle rider, I need to know what the conditions are outside. When I started riding motor cycles I became obsessed with tracking the weather. All I wanted to know was when could I get back on my bike? Getting stuck in potentially dangerous weather conditions due to inaccurate weather predictions is a major problem for me when I'm on my bike. So for me, having an AcuRite weather station at home has transformed the way I look at weather conditions. I got the AcuRite 5 in 1 weather station. AcuRite has a lot of variety in various weather stations and other weather related gear. Actually my first experience with an AcuRite product was an indoor temperature and humidity monitor. I was concerned that the air inside my house was too dry and it turned out it was actually really dry. Which is why I kept getting nose bleeds. For the most part, installing the 5 in 1 weather station was pretty easy. The station didn't really require any assembly. It came as one whole piece that you mount to an included post outside. The post is super easy to mount. You can mount it to anything you can anchor a screw into. I mounted mine to the roof of my shed. In order for the wind feature to read correctly you do have to put it somewhere where it's in the open and there are no obstructions nearby that can affect the wind, rain or sun light. This 5 in 1 weather station comes with a display that you can set up inside your home and a wireless router. The router basically just acts as a control center that handles any wireless traffic between the weather station, the display and the internet. You can still use this weather station if you don't have internet, but if you're not planning to connect it to your network, you can save some money and buy a weather station that doesn't have that feature. One thing about every piece of hardware in this kit is each item takes batteries. Of course, you aren't required to use batteries in the router or display, and I'm currently not. But the station itself does require batteries. The station actually has a set of solar panels on it that turn sunlight into power, but you're going to need those batteries as a backup for dim light and nighttime. One issue I have with the battery requirement is they don't recommend using rechargeable batteries. Well that's an issue for me, I have a lot of rechargeable batteries I use for all manner of devices. So I would prefer to use my rechargeables. They say not to use rechargeables, "due to fluctuations in the way these types of batteries disperse power." So I used standard batteries in my station. I just happen to have a battery backup for my computer, so I wired up the router and display to that along with my modem, wireless router and cordless phone so that even if the power goes out everything will continue working. I kind of expected the display to be nicer than it actually is. The type of display this weather station comes with is the style that's similar to older digital alarm clocks. Where numbers and letters are just lit up using black bars or shapes. It's not an LCD or LED style display. The display itself, however, works great. It has a really bright back light that does have 3 brightness settings. Although, even the dimmest setting is far too bright for my liking. The display doubles as an indoor environment sensor that shows temperature and humidity. It also reads date and time, moon cycles and connection strength to the weather station and the router. Outdoor readings show temperature, humidity, cloud cover, barometric pressure, rainfall, wind speed and direction and future forecast based on sunlight and cloud cover. As a motor cycle rider, I really appreciate the wind speed display, as high winds on a bike can lead to a really bad situation. The only real issues I encountered setting this thing up came up as a result of the wireless connection feature of this weather station. Setting it up isn't difficult. You do need to have some capability using computers. They give you instructions for how to set everything up. But if there are problems, their trouble shooting guide is worthless. Connecting the station and the display to the router was easy. That was all automatic. But getting the router connected to my internet connection was a pain, and I was completely unable to get the Weather Underground feature working. I followed their directions to the letter and I'm certain everything is done correctly, but it still is not working. My weather station isn't connecting to the Weather Underground website. My personal skill level using computers and networking is highly skilled to expert and that is based on decades of advanced use case scenarios. So I know what I'm doing and I still can't get it to work. I haven't had the time to really look into it too deeply, but all of my trouble shooting has come up with nothing and I've put a couple hours into trying to get it sorted out. Originally, getting connected to the AcuRite router was giving me a hard time. I kept losing connection with it before I could get it to save any of my data. Eventually I had to bring it to within 3 feet of my laptop in order to maintain connection with it long enough to complete setup. It has an Ethernet port on the back, which I hooked up directly to my internet router. But, for whatever reason it didn't seem to do anything. It wasn't until I input my wireless info that it would connect to the internet. One of my concerns was the connection to the AcuRite router is unsecured, so anyone can gain access to it and make changes. As far as I can tell, it doesn't grant access to your network, but I guess that's why they made it so you had to be within a few feet of it to connect properly. The station and monitors wireless range is pretty good. Mine are within 50 feet, but that is inside a house that usually acts a wireless dead zone. One feature I really like is the AcuRite app. I have it on my iPhone. Once I got the router connected to my network and setup properly, I installed the app, input my information and it connected quick and easy. The app displays all the same information as your indoor display, except it also gives you some information in the form of charts plotted over time, which is pretty cool. It will also inform you if you lose connectivity, which mine has on several occasions. Although I haven't had it happen when I wanted to use it, so I never noticed until I checked the log. My overall impression of the AcuRite 5 in 1 Weather Station is good. Sure, I had some trouble getting the online functions working properly. But in the end it does what I need it to do. The way I see it, this weather station will perform adequately for the vast majority of people who want to monitor weather at their home. Due to the issues I have I can't give it a perfect rating. I would actually place it at around 3.5 stars, but since I'm not able to rate in half measure I will round it up to 4 stars. I'm pretty happy with mine, I don't want to reduce the rating to 3 stars.
I think a weather station is a most have almost everywhere you live, maybe except in an apartment and it's the because I selected 4 stars instead of 5, because might be a little hard to install there. No other reason about it. I just installed in my mother's house in the back yard and that was really easy to do. Complete details about weather, rain, solar radiation and many others without the Weather channel and detailing weather in a very specific area. I can compare it with a professional weather station, or at last all the full information needed.
Overall this is a solid weather station, it does temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, and wind direction. The few days I've had it I've been able to check the rain and its quite accurate. What I don't like it that the station you mount outside has two nice solar panels on it, but the unit still requires regular batteries, which can get expensive if you live in very cold regions. Another thing that could use improvement is the display. They have been using these same cheap calculator style displays for decades and they need to step up their game and make a decent looking display or at least integration with Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Even just access through an app on your phone would be great! All in all its a very high quality outdoor station, but a few usability snags keep it at 3 stars.
