AT&T ML17939 2-Line Corded Phone with Speakerphone & Digital Answering System, Black

Options are limited for a 2-line speakerphone that also has dual answering machine capability for both lines. This phone is replacing the exact same model. It was an easy install, and easy to program all the numbers in my directory %26 speed dial. The old phone didn't fail, but the power supply did. And, by the time I was able to find a replacement power supply, it was easier to just replace the entire unit and be done with it. The last phone lasted 16 years with no issue, until the power supply failed. I expect no less out of this new phone. As long as it lasts another 6-7 years until I retire, I'll be a happy camper.

This AT%26T phone model ML17939 seems to be designed for a home or business. I use it for my home phone, with just one telephone line. It is a good phone and I recommend it. Here are a few details: With a few connections the phone will work right out of the box. I suggest reading the detailed manual to get the best use of this sophisticated telephone. It has a good answering machine, it has up to 18 speed dial settings, it has the date and time, it has many different buttons to press, the speaker and microphone are loud and clear. You would need to read the manual to use these and more features. Don't be intimidated by this, and ask for help if you think it's too much. There is a short learning curve with this and a toll free number listed in the manual to call for assistance.

Same or better price as Amazon. Your prices used to be a lot higher than theirs. Much faster delivery, which I like. If you keep having more competitive pricing, I will order from you over Amazon.

As you know there aren't many 1-2 line non-VoIP desktop phone sets left in the world, so with such limited choices this one may still be the best. The "clear talk" speaker isn't all that clear and the mic pickup tends to clip off your first word. Right off you will note the annoying lag when dialing in that the touch-tones follow just after input almost like an old pulse dialer. If you use it as a single line phone, there is no way to select it as such and the phone itself isn't smart enough to do it automatically. "L2: NO LINE" will remain on the display for eternity. The backlit blue/black LCD screen is adequate, but there is no way to keep the backlight always on. It goes dark after about 10-seconds of inactivity even though you can still read the text. You have to press something to get it to re-illuminate. The digital answer phone is fine for what it is and the savings over a voice mail plan will pay for the phone many times over.

Overall ... And I hesitate to say"No" I do not recomend this product as I am not 100% sure if its the phone service I have or the actual phone itsself ... but the sound on the speaker phone and the actual ear/receiver you hold up to your ear is really bad (I would rate the sound at about a 5 out of 10) you can hear it and most times you can decipher what is being said ... but IT IS NOT CLEAR and often you need to go back a replay the message and shut off everything else in the room and hold the darn thing close to your ear ... again "Unacceptable" ... BUT ... not 100% sure if the poor audio is due to this phone or the phone service I have (Im using an internet phone service that converts land line phones like this to a cordless internet phone ... its only $8.00 a month ... its called Voiplay ) I googled voiplay and searched for complaints with poor audio and did not find anything ... Im going to try a different phone and see if it makes a difference ....

works good. when playing back a previously recorded message caller id name/number does not show, only shows date timestamp

It is a Christmas gift so haven't checked it out. However, it was precisely what was ordered. My thought is that an AT%26T phone is higher priced, but will be reliable.

Did not need a 2 line phone but wanted a corded phone that would work with a headset, at my computer. Unfortunately the Panasonic KX TCA60 Hands Free Headset I orered did not work and I had to return it. Have been using my old corded headset until I can find a replacement.

Great phone because it has an answering machine, headset jack and 2 line option. Speaker phone works well as does the answering system. Only real downside is that the buttons are a little stiff and this could be problematic if u make a lot of outbound calls. Hopefully the get easier with use.

I use it for business. This is an AT%26T (manufacturer) issue. The telephone simply does NOT work with a third-party headset. Very frustrating.
