First and foremost, item was at a better price than seen elsewhere...Quality...Was kept up to minute with what was happening from the time order was placed until it was received...Any quality of the product would be based on the item's manufacturing in the case of item ordered...

MagicJack works great.

Terry September 11, 2025

The little box that is the MagicJack works great. It gives you a home phone. It comes with a year of use. Then it's $40 year. I'm in Oregon so there is a once-a-year 911 tax of about $13. The trick is when you plug it into the USB of your computer to configure it, it recognizes it and configures it by going to mjreg.com, not the MagicJack.com site. Once configured with a phone number of your choosing (from a long list), you unplug it and plug in a network cable to your router, and, of course, a telephone to it. The fantastic feature that I turn on is the call screening: The caller gets a computer voice saying to push a key on your phone that is random 1 to 9. If they push the right number, the call goes through and the phone rings. Otherwise it times out and you don't get bothered by any robocalls.

Magic Jack provider for landline phone

learningtoswim March 24, 2026

Engineers of this industry know how to make the task a user-friendly experience. I love the process of installing it myself. One saves money on the phone line. However, a cautionary note: Magic Jack is a simple phone landline service, but it uses the back end of the phone's internet service. A user must subscribe to an internet provider that serves the residential phone number, such as Verizon, Xfinity, T-Mobile, or AT%26T, for Magic Jack to work. A user only pays for internet service to save money rather than internet phone TV bundling; a nit is that MJ doesn't have Caller ID capability, which means a MJ landline phone user will not know who the incoming call is.

The best value for a landing phone.

Karl January 11, 2026

Pro: easy setup, multi use, low cost, durable, can transfer my old landline phone number to use, comes with 1 year use, can renew for up to 5 years up-front at a discount, comes with all necessary cables to get going right out of the box after activation, can add optional features (voicemail, call holding, secondary voicemail box, caller ID, spam call filtering). Con: requires ethernet connectivity to connect your landline phone to the Internet, optional Mobile app for cell phone use is still buggy.

You can't beat Magic Jack for quality and price, e

JoAnn January 13, 2026

Spectrum was so expensive so we went with our the new City Optics in our city. So I lost my landline - then my daughter suggested MagicJack and what a neat gadget. Now my landline works with the same phone number I've had for 14 years. I don't know how the gadget works but it does and I love it. it is so easy to install and works on my new phones and clear as can be. I tell everyone about it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Magic jack

Disgusted November 23, 2025

We have had ours for about a month and it's great. Not one spam call at all. You have to pay a one time fee of $20 for 911 and it costs $50 a year. You have to activate the one for no spam calls. Cant remember what it's called ( my husband set it up). You must have internet for it to work. I would recommend this to everyone.

Magic Jack Issues

Gwendolyn February 1, 2026

It's reasonable. Ok for a second phone. It hangs up on you while on the phone without your knowledge or there being an issue. It will stop working for whatever reason. When you call to inquire they will tell you that you need another one even if it's not a year old. I had been getting mine through the company but this time I went through Walmart which is a better deal for a one year contract. You get everything that you need and all you need to do is activate it with your computer or the company. If you get it through the company it cost more. Sometimes there is a problem with hearing. At times the party can't hear you and other times I can't hear them. I've called several times but the issue remains, it's never fixed. Remember it's good for a second phone!

Two BIG service problems with this device

DaveSand1 September 21, 2025

I'll divide this review into two parts - the quality of the service and the quality of the device. As for the service, you absolutely have to have a good internet connection with low latency. Assuming you do, the quality of the calls is excellent. HOWEVER, there are two significant drawbacks to using the service: (1) Magicjack does not provide full Caller ID. They show the number calling, but they do not provide a name to go along with the number (rendering the service essentially useless to most people). (2) Every call is followed by an extremely loud busy signal. This manifests itself in two ways - both of which are VERY annoying. First, whenever you are on a call if the other person hangs up first you will get a very loud busy signal in your ear. Second, if you use voicemail or have an answering machine and get multiple messages while you are busy/out, whenever you play the messages every message will be followed by this loud busy signal. As for the physical device, the quality of the device is very cheap. The network cable kept falling out of my magicjack device. When I examined it closely I realized that the plastic socket was broken and there was nothing for the little clip on the plug to latch onto. I had to use electrical tape to hold the plug on the network cable in the socket. Unfortunately, it was too late to return the device by the time I realized the socket was physically broken and I had already ported my old phone number to the device before I discovered the problems with Caller ID and busy signals.

Deceptive Advertising

FrogScout September 26, 2025

It says on the box that you can port your current number. Turns out you cannot, at least not for my number, plus trying to get technical support for the product was very difficult - you have to work your way through a confusing maize of a website, use a robo-chat, which bounces you out of chat, then somehow I figured out how to get a phone number which I could not repeat if I tried - so I am glad that I wrote everything down!!!! After two or three calls which I received case numbers for, I got an email saying they could not port my number. It is deceptive advertising. Since it did not work, I decided to return it to Walmart. When I tried to return it to Walmart yesterday, they refused to take the purchase back. I have no idea why. They told me to dispute the charge on my credit card. It was within the 90-day return period. I am so annoyed with this.

Terrible customer service!

CaptRon April 16, 2026

This entire experience was not good at all! First the magic jack would not connect properly to my laptop. The customer service is offshore and does not know how to properly troubleshot issues.Next the telephone number they assigned was not a working number for incoming calls but the tech support people did not know it so more emails back and forth many times. The advanced tech support people can only be contacted by email with no option for voice support so 24 hrs. timeframe between emails. Then it became clear that they were not reading the prior emails and kept telling me to do what I had already explained to them that I had done from prior emails with them. Finally after many hours of my time they realized that they had assigned a bad telephone number to me and gave me a new number that actually worked! I requested some consideration for the hours of my time and was given one month extra on my plan. Not even minimum wage !
