I've already recommend this to several people. The service plans range from $6 to $20. it does start off with $20 but I got to changed to $6. but you do have to call to make that change. I got to pick my phone %23 and So far it has worked like a charm.

Works with Wi-Fi extender!

Hannah0205 February 2, 2026

My fiancés gaming PC setup hogged up the outlets and power strip where my router is located (only working coax line in our apartment is in our bedroom 😒), so I wondered, what if I used a Wi-Fi extender instead of plugging it into the router? I plugged the Ooma into the Wi-Fi extender via the included Ethernet cable, and it took about 5-10 minutes of blinking red light before it turned a solid blue. You can place your Ooma anywhere you want to, as long as you have 3 free outlets (power for the Ooma device, your chosen home phone, as well as your Wi-Fi extender), which you're going to need a power strip for; mine is one of those flat ones, see pic. I tested this with my cell phone and my home phone both held up to my ears, and they both sounded the same on clarity. If you have one of those extended home phones with the headset extensions, I'm sure you can use those with this as well, as I believe the extension headsets only require a regular power outlet and connect to the main home phone (that's plugged into the Ooma) via the built-in antenna, as far as I'm aware. I am going to get a short, pink coiled landline cord, to not only match my home phone, but also help reduce the cluster of cables that I now have on my kitchen counter 😅

So Far a Good Move

Marisa April 8, 2026

This is what it is supposed to be. All the parts and directions where packed in the box and new. As for the product, I hooked it up with no problem. I just got Starlink to replace a barely working Frontier IPS that gave me less than 1MB and now I have 50MB for the first time ever. To completely get away from Frontier Communications I had to get rid of the landline phone service. I live in the boonies and am at an age with no real family or friends so never got into cell phone. I just canceled the phone after I ported my original phone number with OOMA. So far it is working great. No scam calls and that was almost the only thing I was getting. Silence is golden, I hope I don't have to update this post because it is a wonderful change and after initial purchase will only cost the amount of taxes to your calls. FREE except for the people who have there fingers in everything.

$7 a month for a full-service phone

Christopher April 2, 2026

This is my second Telo. No, there wasn't a thing wrong with the first; the house just happened to burn down around it. Anyway, there is nothing about these gizmos that isn't superlative. Hardware-reliable, excellent sound quality (especially compared to cellular calling), a nice web interface when needed (rarely--I just needed to look up when I made a few calls). Ah, but you're wondering: Is it really "free?" As free as anything gets these days, which is to say that if there were no government, the monthly cost would be $0. In my area, the various regulatory fees amount to $6.71 a month. That's all I pay. Now, I paid QUITE a bit more for my first Telo. At $29.99 I hesitated milliseconds to buy another (I've been "landline"-less since the fire). You should be even faster. Get you some nice cordless phones and stop using up your cellphone battery at home (nothing like running out of the house and seeing you're at 15%--you'll probably be fine, but imagine the comfort of running out with 85%!). Get better sound quality. One recommendation, though: Get a 12" Ethernet cable from eBay or something. You don't need the included 3' cable to connect to your router: They're going to be within 3' of each other and reducing that to 12" reduces cable clutter handily.

Easy to set up. Quality of sound and voice is great. Hooked up to my internet and picked my new number ( you can transfer current one for small fee) I just love it and I'm saving a bunch of money on a landline.

Good Product But Be Aware of Restrictions

Travis August 12, 2025

The Ooma phone device works great so far! However, it is important to know that when you purchase this item with Walmart directly you save money on the device itself as it is more expensive buying directly with Ooma or Best Buy. However, be aware when you register the Ooma device and setup your account there are some restrictions Ooma imposes to those who purchased from Walmart directly. For instance, if you want an Alaska or Hawaii phone number you'll have to pay extra fees whereas most phone numbers are free in the lower 48 states when signing up.

We switched to netspeed, for our net access provider. They wanted to charge ~$29/ month - to add a VOIP phone line. ABSURD fee. I bought the Ooma for a unit cost of ~$30, (delivered) To use their unit there is ~$6 /mth required reg fees, taxes etc The Ooma voice quality is superb. EASY to do the initial install Only negative was the INEPT Wlamart delivery - very late

Box not opened. Dislike Ooma monthly charges.

Alina December 28, 2025

Box not opened. Called Ooma to activate but they said this item requires Premium type Ooma service for $9.99 per month, however, box shows $9.88 per month plus additional fees and taxes. Ooma has bad customer service only available Mon to Fri. Decided not to use Ooma service as not worth monthly charges.

Avoid this version of Ooma, permanently premier

Neil February 22, 2026

Beware of this device, it is not a standard ooma service. It is permanently attached to a premier plan, but unlike the regular premier plan, this cannot be downgraded to basic service and you do not get free number port in service. What you save in the device, costs you for the port in.
