I got these to make cuz I like peanut butter cookies sometimes and I'd rather just have the mix and throw it together then to buy them or to try to create it myself basically it's me and my dog so you know I don't do too much big cooking and stuff like that and a lot of baking I do always make banana bread because I get bananas and you know you can't eat the whole bunch before they start getting Brown and that's when you really want to use them for your banana bread
I always reduce the oil and add some peanut butter to the mix and also add some peanut butter chips My family says they are the best peanut butter cookies ever!
Betty crocker cookie mix is so simplistic and quick and foolproof, I've been using it for years. I love having to make something sweet when time is short. I must add though, the only way to go wrong is not knowing your oven! I know my oven heats up hotter than the called for Temps. Easy solution, just lower the temp and the baking times. Since we love our cookies chewy, they come out perfect every time!
For practically INSTANT COOKIES, these are REALLY GREAT. I looked at reviews first to see if I could doctor them to make them more homemade. I followed another's suggestion of decreasing Oil to 2 TBSP and added 1/4 cup of Peanut Butter. I made 12 Large Cookies that were DELISH. The large I baked at 350 for 11 min. For the 2nd Batch, I added a large handful of Milk Chocolate Chips and made 12 more smaller cookies. They were even MORE DELICIOUS!! I baked the smaller cookies for 10 min. For not dragging out all of the ingredients to make home made, these were FANTASTIC. I highly recommend doctoring !! Not much to clean up too. I'm all about reading reviews to see if anyone has done something interesting. Good Luck :)
I have always had good luck with the recipe as is. However, I found that adding 1/2 cup of peanut butter, an additional 1/3 cup of all purpose flour, and an additional teaspoon of water to the basic recipe created a cookie a mother would be proud of. Great texture with a soft center, and full of flavor.
Betty Crocker has printed their directions wrong on these December 2023 cookie packages. 1 month ago they tasted way different. Turns out there should only be 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil—not 3 according to my package. Why can't you recall these and let people know?
Very sticky dough. Even though I chilled the dough, they spread all over the place and did not look like PB cookies at all. Didn't taste very good, and the texture was all wrong. Make your own. You'll be happier.
Night before my daughters fundraiser I TRIED to make these PB cookies. I followed the “simple 3 easy step” recipe on the back of the bag and the dough was so dry half the mix wouldn't hold together. I tried tweaking the recipe by getting my hands wet and kneading the dough and finally got the dough to form the little balls. I baked them at 350 as instructed and had to take them out after only 4 minutes because the bottoms were getting too brown. Totally annoyed knowing I couldn't take these to the fundraiser I went ahead and put them in the cookie jar thinking “kids will eat anything”. WRONG…first hand in the jar I heard, “Eew, these are aweful!” After dropping off my store bought cookies I tried calling Betty Crocker to see what could have possibly gone wrong. Unfortunately it was Saturday morning and their phone
First, let me say I am a very experienced baker. I bought these because I wanted to try something quick and easy. The texture came out fine and they looked perfect. Only problem, there is absolutely zero peanut butter taste to these cookies. They taste like nothing. Had I not sprinkled a little sugar on top before baking, they wouldn't even taste very sweet. Will no buy again.
Made exactly as directed and am very disappointed with the end result. No distinguishable peanut or peanut butter taste, overly sweet leaving a faint oily residue in my mouth. I do not recommend. Make your own cookies using real and wholesome ingredients rather than this mix of lab-made products.
