This replaces the same one that I have used for 10 years. I live in Florida and I need to constantly trim my queen and pigmy palms in my yard as well as the wild Brazilian berry trees that grow along my property line. The old one worked great for 10 years, but the motor would turn, but the chain did not move. I researched and it said the gears were stripped and I could only purchase the whole head. So I got a new one for close to the same price. Walmart was about 1/2 the price of Amazon.
very impressed with this. i'm an older female and i was able to trim all of the trees btmy myself. i could trim branches about 1.5" thick with no issues. larger branches struggled a bit more. the battery lasted about 20 minutes but it charges in a few hours and my husbands drill battery works with it too. its a bit heavy but not too heavy. might be easier for younger or stringer people. I had no problems reaching tall dogwood and japanese maple branches. i also trimmed up over grown leyland cypress trees. thechain only got stuck when too much debris got in it or when the battery got low. its quite powerful and does an excellent job.

Very easy to put together and use. Used it to prune an out of control tree and it cut right through limbs between 3/4" and 3" as high as 12' off the ground. Did not work on smaller limbs as they were too flexible. Battery run time was surprisingly long for just 1.5 amp. The little saw cover also had a place for the chain oil and wrench which was pretty convenient. Black and Decker 20V tools in my arsenal have been reliable for years.
I don't think this was ever meant to be a professional tool, but it works great for the average home yard. I did a lot of pruning..more than I wanted to clean up...and still had plenty of battery. I let the weight of the saw do the cutting and the blade is still good and sharp. I plan to get a lot of use out of this tool. Great for neighbors' limbs overhanging your fence.
Only used this battery powered pole chain saw one day so far to trim seed pods on very tall palm trees and trim a branches hanging from neighbors giant unkept tree. This saw makes the work so much simpler. I'm 5'5", 130lbs and 66 yrs old. So most people can handle this without problems.
The best thing about this is the price. This is a light duty, value model pole saw. It works well at the six foot pole length. I had good control and good cutting power. With the extension, it was difficult to control. There was a lot of flex in the pole.
First, the 8 in cutting bar is too small. Plus, the chain rpm speed makes for slow cutting, similar to cutting with a dull chain. It bounces around a lot if you don't keep a downward force on the pole.
Walmart sent me this pole saw in a package that had clealy been opened, hastily retaped and sold as NEW!!!!! The contents were loosly flopping around in the box. I took it back. This has happened several times with other oitems I ordered from Walmart. I know they have a 30 day return policy but I sure wish they would stop selling returns as new.
I can't believe that Walmart ship this out. FedEx drop this off and I can see how the box was and I tried to get the FedEx guy back but he just got in the truck and took off. The box was all ripped and wet and open water was coming out of the bottom. I didn't even take it into my house. I called walmart.com and told them. They told me to take it back to a Walmart And as soon as I did they will refund me back to my PayPal. And they did. I didn't even take the product out and check it because it was no use especially when it was in water. You don't keep electronics if it was in water. I got it from Lowe's at the same price Lowe's match the price. I'm really disappointed in Walmart. Horrible experience. I took pictures of the box.
