This made some great substitute bread!! It is on the dry side if you have problems swallowing. BUT IT is good and tastes nutty!!
This flatbread mix is so easy to use and amazing quality! Sure, I can mix my own flours and extras, and get the same results for cheap, but sometimes it's so convenient to have everything already done. I have used the mix for all kinds of recipes, not only flatbread; it's more like an all purpose flour I can even use for pancakes and microwave mug cakes. The results are always perfect, fluffy and delicious.
I prepared this product as two flatbreads and made pesto grilled chicken pizzas for my fiance and I for dinner. We really enjoyed it! This brand, and specifically this mix itself will replace a few different bread items we normally make. It is gluten-free, vegetarian, and non-GMO. I received this product complimentary in exchange for my honest opinion.
Our favorite use for this product so far is for the cinnamon roll recipe posted on the website. They are quick to make since there is a 5 minute rest period vs. hours when using yeast recipes and needing the dough to rise. These had the perfect sweetness and were not overpowering. My husband prefers these over a popular local GF bakery! The dough was quite sticky and hard to roll up even with a 'floured' surface, so I will add additional flour next time I make these. It didn't affect the flavor, just the appearance which we didn't mind since we kept them for ourselves! :) We liked the focaccia recipe too and will try the wrap recipe next.
It was great. I added a little fresh rosemary and everything blend by Simply Organic. I wish there were more recipes for the mix. I usually make flatbread in a rectangular 1/2 sheet pan and have some left over for a few days. It didn't have potato or corn starch so my body liked it (food sensitivities).
This easy to make flat bread has quickly become a favorite! Easy to make individual sizes to have with salad or soup. I think it could be used as a GF scone with strawberries, too. Now I want to try things like flavoring the water or adding herbs for savory variations and adding a bit of sugar and dried fruit or dates with a simple glaze for a tea bread!
I made rosemary garlic foccacia from Bob's Red Mill Grain Free Flatbread mix. I went to their website to get the recipe since it wasn't one of the recipes on the back of the bag. So easy to prepare, just eggs, water and oil, mix it, let it sit for 5 minutes and the bake. I didn't have the exact size pan but used a 8x8 pan instead, since the mix is very firm I just eyeball the size hoping that it wouldn't spread out during cooking. It held its shape! The final product was a solid bread, not too firm and not airy. It was very tasty, the addition of olive oil and the rosemary, garlic and salt elevated the flavor. It was thick enough to be sliced horizontal but I ate it whole. The extras are stored in the fridge. My husband didn't even realize that it was grain free. I need more of this mix!
The first thing I love about this mix is how easy it is to fix! I really like the taste too. I used to love bread in all it's forms, now I have to avoid gluten. I have tried different non-wheat bread recipes that are good, but not many non-grain recipes that I like. This one is a winner!!! I tried the flat bread, next I will try the wraps.
I was looking for a pizza crust for gluten free pizza made at home. This mix is that and much more. Very versatile for making flatbread, biscuits, tortillas, etc. I will buy again.
The recipe is easy and starts off good. When baked the crust both top and bottom are beautiful and tastes good, however, the inside is wet and uncooked. The bread did not rise during baking and never looked like the picture on the package. After one slice had to throw it out. Do you know why it was raw in the middle yet had a beautiful crust. I have another package of mix to use but would like to see success with the next bread.
