I love this Scottish oatmeal. It is hard to find locally so I am forced to order online. It is so much creamier than other oatmeals. Highly recommend it.
Just made Nova Scotia oatcakes as good as Effie's using the Scottish Oatmeal. They are now in constant demand by all with whom I have shared them. They are our favorite “biscuit” with tea and “cracker” for cheese.
I like the texture of Scottish oatmeal. Much preferred over rolled oats or steel milled oats, imo, and Bob's Red Mill is an employee-owned company. Non GMO. What's not to like?
I have been buying Bob's Red Mill for eons. The best cut of oatmeal is the "Scottish" cut, or I should say ground oatmeal. It boils down to (no pun intended), whole kernels with "whole kernels" you don't get all of the nutrients extracted from the kernel. With "steel cut" kernels, you still do not extract all of the nutrients. With stone ground, the kernel is crushed and you get almost 100% of all of the nutrients. On top of that, once cooked, it has a nice smooth consistency that you can eat without massively crunching like the whole or steel cut versions :) In my opinion only, of course.
This is the first time I have tried this product. I am a long time oatmeal eater and I have to say that I prefer Scottish oatmeal to the regular oatmeal and steel cuts oats. Scottish oatmeal is creamier and has an extra grain texture and bite...but not too much bite as in steel cut oats. I will be buying much more of this product.
I discovered Bob's Red Mill products when offered a sample of their Scottish Oatmeal to take home. My wife and I both loved it and went back to buy more. At that time we discovered what a wide variety Bob's had to offer. We have tried many different flavors and are just delighted to have made this discovery. Thank you Bob's!
After visiting Portland a few times this past year, I had the wonderful opportunity to take the Bob's Red Mill Tour and was introduced to Bob's Scottish Oatmeal.... always liked Oatmeal, but this Scottish Oatmeal was amazing... so creamy and delicious... it's now a staple in my kitchen!!
I absolutely LOVE this oatmeal! It is my favorite of all time, the best I've ever had. The fact that it is stoneground in the traditional, old school manner of milling, makes all the difference in both taste and consistency. Thank you so much for producing it! I know that I will be coming back for more as soon as I finish all that I've already purchased.
Fast delivery. Good for using in Scottish recipes where rolled and steel-cut oats are not appropriate
I'm not fond of this oatmeal.I do however, love Red Mill Steel Cut Oats. The Scottish Oatmeal is too mushy for my taste.
