Upon planting, I noticed the mixture is light and airy, which should allow for good drainage. Considering the fact that I planted an herb I will use for cooking, I am delighted that this is organic.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I was really pleasantly surprised by Burpees Eco Friendly Organic Garden Coir. The bag was inexpensive compared to other brands of dirt and was lightweight. when I opened the bag you can tell the soil was rich in nutrients because it didn't have those ugly tiny white styrofoam balls that are added as filler to cheap bags of soil and very bad for the ecosystem. There was no manure smell like some other garden soils have. it seems to be holding the moisture in which is a good thing because sometimes I forget to water my hebs and spices which can kill them in one day if they are left in direct sunlight for too long. I am going to be expanding my garden and planting more veggies this year because produce prices are going thru the roof. I also feel better knowing that my veggies and hebs don't have the pesticides some others have. I can't wait to share my results as the season gets warmer outside

After purchasing the 8 Quart package of Burpees Eco-Friendly Natural Organic Garden Coir, I mixed it with a heavy potting soil in order to lighten it up per the directions. I found the soil light and easy to work with. I used it to plant my Lemon Balm.

This was a nice surprise to find next to the vermiculite! I've had my eye out for coconut coir as my local places don't have any of the usually bricks in stock lately. Ready to use right from the bag. But I'm really leaving this review to clarify for other's, as Shermann's review made me itch all weird. Those little white balls in potting mix's are perlite… definitely not styrofoam balls or filler. Perlite is made from volcanic glass and helps your soil drain and roots breathe better. This product has many uses, but one of them is mixing into soil to aid with moisture retention.

It was easy to work with, had a good consistency and seems to hold water good. Price point is good for a quality product. Also loved that the bag is resealable.

You do mix it with other pre mixed soil, so make sure to have that on hand. I planted cilantro with it, hoping it makes it grow nice In my kitchen .

So I've not actually ever even heard of this stuff, but I'm an avid gardener--a novice, but I grow a vegetable garden every year and I was asked to try this product. I had a ton of pepper seedling plants ready for bigger pots and this amazing stuff was just the ticket for potting them. I don't know where I've been, but this "coir" is amazing stuff. It's as soft and pleasant to work with as potting soil, but it feels "meatier". It was soooo easy to work with getting my veggies potted. I watered it and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't just run through the pot and empty out like it often does when I first transplant using basic potting soil. So the claim that it holds 150% of its weight in water so far seems to hold true. I really like to work with dirt/soil, and this stuff actually made me feel almost like a professional. I might have given it 5 stars, but the proof is in the pudding so to speak--I have to wait to see the performance of my peppers and other veggies before I can be sure this is a 5 star product. I'll be back to update my review when growing season comes into full swing. Stay tuned!
