Warm Glow

Pbnjayb June 24, 2019

I was happy to have this lantern on a recent camping trip. I had seen another camper using one in a park a few weeks prior. I was impressed by the warm glow and brightness produced by the lantern. It lit up our site very well. Very easy to use with instructions right on the lantern base.

Coleman Dual-Fuel Lantern with Carry Case

DiDibs January 1, 2017

My husband thinks his Christmas present of a Coleman Dual-Fuel Lantern is great. He has already used it camping and had no problem lighting it and getting it started. He has no complaints about it at all. Great gift.

Satisfied customer

Zane B June 17, 2026

I've been using Coleman products for 60 years . Whether I'm on a long camping trip or just in the backyard , The adjustable flame gives me the exact amount of light that I want. The dual fuel capability Makes things very efficient. I have a two burner Coleman stove That I use on a regular basis . It's older than most people . Coleman is still my go to brand .

Lantern and Stove Nastalgia

Eman33 July 4, 2026

LED and battery powered have their place for sure; especially inside a tent. But liquid fuel lanterns and stoves have been around for decades and when maintained properly, work very well and work better in cold. When your batteries die and the sun isn't out, these things will work and the fuel lasts a long time per fill up. Knowing how to work these properly is also just a rite of passage.

you can't go wrong with a Coleman lantern. It runs on Coleman fuel (white gas) This could run on car gas but I will always use white gas unless car gas is all that is available.

The nostalgia is real, and it performs perfectly

mattfromGA June 9, 2026

I grew up camping with one of these. My dad taught me how to use and take care of it when I was very young, and it became my job to light the lantern whenever it started getting dark. The build quality is perfect. The light it gives off is warm and bright. I pumped it up and put it on low in the middle of our table and it burned all night, was great low light for middle of the night trips to the bathroom. The only note I have is WATCH OUT FOR THE METAL NUT ON THE TOP Me being groggy in the morning sat my hand right on top of it and it was still quite hot.

good for the money but not as bright or well made.

Goraman July 8, 2016

In the fist picture you will see the new 2016 A285 on the left at full brightness. On the right my 1940 Coleman 220D at full brightness. The older Coleman is both much larger and heavier but also after 76 years still puts more light! I'm sure it will still out last the smaller new Coleman made of stamped steel and plastic. The glass in the new lantern is not pyrex like the old ones and seems to small and restricts the holes making it harder to light the mantels. It in fact is so under size that it is hard to center and is off to one side with out being centered each time before lighting. I just found out they do make a larger A295 called the power house , it should be brighter . I would go with that and hope the construction is better too. At the end of the day to get a new lantern with case just over $60.00 its not a bad deal, if your packing in and want something small and light it's my first choice. But this is not father's or grandfathers Coleman lantern.

No warranty support for brand-new defectiv product

Bruce November 12, 2025

Unit was well packed and protected in shipment. However, there was a large area of the ventilator (top) section left without the porcelain coating. If I used it in that condition the metal would rapidly rust and degrade. I attempted to contact Coleman via its website, and it connected me with its 'AI' support. It asked for the date code and serial number before it would assist me. I supplied that information, and it said that I had provided sufficient information to get support. It then ended the conversation and did not provide me with any additional support, nor did it answer my question as to how to get the defective part replaced. Their support is poor, and releasing an obviously defective product from the factory without any way to honor their warranty leaves me quite disappointed. Other lantern manufacturers provide warranty support (I have experience with them). I am very disappointed with Coleman, and recommend against purchasing a Coleman lantern.

Crappy lantern

Gus60 May 29, 2026

This was for a camping trip to celebrate my 66th birthday. It didn't work . The gas would not flow, it pumped up okay, I had pressure, just wouldn't release it when I opened the valve. Very disappointed. Coleman used to be good . Threw it away in disgust
