perfectly usable guest/camping bed

brinebold October 8, 2013

I bought this because I had a grandmother visting for a week and find my couch too short for comfortable sleeping and recliners to be an unnatural sleeping position. This cot eliminated the neck pain associated with sleeping on a couch arm so it's a huge improvement if you can't afford or store even a twin size guest bed. It might be a bit firm for some people but you can always pad it if that's your preference. First, let's get it out of the way: this product is ridiculously difficult to assemble for the first use. The canvas stretches incredibly tight and you're quite likely to pinch a finger or two trying to get it to lock into place. However, after 1-2 uses, it'll stretch enough that it's snug but doable without too much difficulty. Once you get it assembled it is a perfectly functional but very firm bed. If you need a softer surface, buy a twin size foam mattress topper and cut it down to size.

Great cot for the price

Kabe138 March 13, 2014

I was looking for something better then an air mattress to sleep on so I decided to shop around for a reasonable priced cot so I decided to check on the Walmart website glad I did after reading a few reviews on other websites on different cots these model will show up with the best reviews so I decided to read the reviews on here I after reading a few comments I notice everyone was complaining that it was hard to pull the last end corner together and that it was very difficult to do I was a bit hesitant to buy it because I didn't want to go through a lot trouble putting it together especially when I was going to bed but then I decided to take a chance on it I figure I'm pretty strong so it won't be that bad It arrived a few days later took it out the box no instruction came with it but it was fairly simple to open up it comes with 2 metal bars one metal bar goes in the seam of one end of the cot and the other in the other end the the first end was simple when you get to the other end here comes the tricky part because that's when you have to pull really hard to get the metal bar to lock in after a few try's on my own I couldn't do it stop for a second then I decided to grab a thick 12 inch screw driver on one end and put it between the corner metal and the metal beam pull back on the screw driver and it pull back so easy until the metal beam fell in place do the same process to get it off when you want to put the cot away , once you sleep on it for a few days the canvas will stretch a bit enough that it will be easier to set up next time , im 260lbs and it held well and it's wider then most cots out there , I hope this help on your decision on purchasing this item it's worth it.

worth every cent

Azhunter November 28, 2016

Bought these cots for a deer hunt to keep us off the ground, some reviews describe the cots as heavy, they are a bit heavy but totally manageable. all of the hunters in our party were over 200 lbs and we all slept comfortably with plenty of room to turn from side to side. We put in rough miles and came back exhausted and the cots were comfortable allowing us to rest up for the next day. The cots look well made and time will tell how well they will hold up.the feet on these cots are heavy duty as well plan on placing carpet between the feet and tent floor so you do not damage the tent. I plan on purchasing several more for our New Mexico cabin and as back up beds for guests...at this sale price you cant go wrong.

Sturdy, compact-to-carry

TLA July 23, 2014

This cot is very durable, and can hold a considerable weight. It packs very slim into a carrying case which comes with the cot. Easy to set-up, with some muscle required to pull the taunt bar in place the first few set-ups. We are replacing air mattresses (which never seem to last more than a year) with these cots for camping and extra company at home. We layer a sleeping bag and a down comforter as a "sleeping mat" on the cots. Great buy, especially for the price!

Off the floor

Spychalski October 10, 2016

I'm getting a little too "old" to be dragging my butt off the cold ground during our fall campouts. This cot seems to work perfect. Lots of people complained about how difficult it was to put together, so I ordered early and strong armed it together to let my boys sleep on it a couple nights and loosen the fabric. Easy set up, easy put away, I'm lovin' it.

Heavy, Sturdy, & Tricky, but Great $30 Value.

Kyle December 15, 2016

I've already read the other reviews on this cot being pinchy with the fingers, but this cot has too much value in affordability and sturdiness to quickly pass up. One trick I've found is to stand the cot up on end when you're trying to get the last bar in place. Place one foot on the bottom hinge, then shoulder press that sucker up and into the last slot. This will keep your fingers out of the way. See photo. Great durability; hasn't weakened at all -- despite being also used as a chair for hours. No sag after days of usage. This cot is very heavy steel; I would much prefer a lighter aluminum/wooden frame were I hiking up a mountain to camp. But, for temporary bedding around the house for extra guests over the holidays, this cant be beaten for the affordability.

Great cot, make sure to pad the corners!

Holly September 20, 2024

Easy to assemble and disassemble. The size is great. I bought this for my son who is 6’ tall and he had plenty of room. I did use a self inflating mattress on top for extra padding and it was perfect. My one complaint was that the corners of the frame stick out. I am not sure how many times we ran into them and even cut ourselves before I ran to a dollar store and bought a pool noodle and padded them myself! It’s was a cheap fix though…just wish I did it sooner.

That last part...

OnlineShopping101 November 16, 2012

You must use all your strength to put the safety end bars (that keeps the cot aligned and not prone to collapse)in place. I could get the end that has the Coleman logo together, but the end where I have my feet I can get one side on but not the other. I sweated like HECK! to get the ends together. I gave up on the feet end and just use a bungee cord on that one side I couldn't get. I bought a king size Mainstay comforter, fold it once, and sleep on top of it to make this cot feel more comfy. It's very durable from what I can tell so far and is comfy enough to sleep on every night. Another reason I gave this a 4 star is because I have like a slit/cut on the carrying bag. I just don't like the idea of buying anything that's suppose to be brand new with that sort of flaw to it. Other than those 2 semi-problems I recommend this product.

good and light cot

J5BUCK April 2, 2025

nice cot I will be using for deer camp for a few days at a time. Put together easy ,laid on it and used one night to sleep on, put it away until October. I have a different brand that is much heavier and about the same comfort level so this one is way lighter that's a bonus .

This cot is great

Scott October 8, 2016

I got this for a place to sleep while visiting my children houses and it has been very good it's very sturdy. I had to add some padding one side bottom because I'm tall and my legs hanging over the metal bars are a little uncomfortable but for someone shorter than 6 foot two would enjoy sleeping on it. Overall I would highly recommend this cot.
